USH'S STAR WARS GAME- LIGHT SIDE INTERLUDE- The Warlord of Droben
Welcome to the Light Side Interlude!
This mini-game takes place between Episodes II and III of the Light Side campaign, and hence falls between two storylines. Originally planned as a prequel to Episode III that would have been played inside that thread, it has now been broken off and given its own focus due to a scheduling problem between the Light and Dark Side games. However, this has worked well to good use- ths interlude makes a good starting point for new players, it has caused a re-balancing of Episode III for the Dark Side which will actually result in better polot matching between the two stories, and it makes the planned split of a new Renegade thread time out far better when it comes, instead of coming mid-Episode.
The plot of the game will be described below. It is a one off operation requiring a very strong Jedi team, due to extreme hazard. Although it has relevance to the Light Side plotline, it needs absolutely no prior experience with that plotline to play, the link is rather tenuous (certainly for now), and also it has nothing to do with Episode III at all! It is a neat, self-enclosed interlude. It's action heavy- you will need your sabres more than your mouths; this was probably implicit from it being a massed Jedi operation. It will require team work and good battle co-ordination- this may be daunting to new players; I recommend you follow the lead of the vets, who will be happy to help. You have a Master in charge, so don't feel that you have to take all responsibilities yourself, if you are new.
Due to the non-episodic nature of this game, no Predictive powers are being used, so don't worry about any of that.
Just a note on timing- Episode III takes place two years after Episode II. This game does not have a specific time given, but it is 'close' to Episode III. The only reason I am not saying it is the same time as Episode III is to reduce the feeling that you go home from this mission, when done, and go straight into whatever happens next- there is a chance for xp spending after this game, after all. Thematically speaking, though, this game is generally within an Episode III time period (just to make sure there is no confusion on that- I am talking about MY upcoming Episode III, not the Revenge of the Sith film, which is eight years after that!).
That being the case, do bear in mind that time has passed! Those of you who have played before, it has been two years since the Battle of Arminium. For those of you that do not know, this battle was between a large Jedi force (well, twelve, which is pretty large by Jedi standards) and an entire division of battle droids. The Jedi triumphed, stormed the keep and shut off the Droid control unit. But it was a pyrhric victory, because the man they sought to arrest, who was controlling the army, had shot himself, and so fighting all those droids seemed rather pointless. Indeed, the Council has had a grave fear confirmed- that come mass warfare, the Jedi may be excellent warriors, but they cannot themselves fight wars. Possible solutions are being explored. Those of you badly wounded in that battle are long since recovered; it is not an experience you would care to repeat, however.
For the Jedi, two years more work has not greatly changed your view of things. The Techno Union's arms race continues, and the case against the Trade Federation has gone precisely nowhere. New laws have stopped the vast arms manufacturing for no purpose of the Union, and especially the Federation, so technically the new Union armament systems can't be simply being hoarded... yet their profits don't seem to be diminished. The Galaxy is growing increasingly disorderly- some worlds are even speaking of Seperatist sentiment. A movement is growing, so the rumour says.
For the Renegades, this has been a time of opportunity. Backed by the Taloraanians and other concerned worlds, you have set up a Private Investigation company. You take a lot of altruistic work, looking for missing people that the Republic doesn't care about any more, exposing (and breaking up, if necessary) small criminal syndicates and the like- partly to pay the bills (though you work for free if need be), and partly to give yoursleves a good reputation... and partly because you are good guys, after all. But your ultimate objecive is the big fish- people like the Federation and the Union, who are ruining your Galaxy. Your dream is to covertly gather enough evidence against them to blow out their conspiracy in public view. Unfortunately, although you do not have the restrtictions of the Jedi, you don't have their legal powers either, and progress there has been slow. You have exposed some individual pictures of corruption, even gotten a few convictions, but proving systematic and widespread abuse is currently beyond you until you get a break- that time has come.
New players are either Renegades who have joined with this new company that seeks to right wrongs, or Jedi called up to go on a dangerous mission where many Jedi resources are needed. One returning player, should he decide to stick with things, is Lance, a veteran of the early days of the first Campaign. Lance, it has been four years since your mission to Damagran, where your wounds sustained at the hands of Galder at the top of Faylar's palace took you out the rest of the campaign (oddly enough, four years is close to the real time that has passed also!). The days of chasing Kuylen are long gone- you understand that mission did not exactly end well, though Kuylen never conquered the Galaxy so it cannot have been that bad. You've been called for this misison because... well, they seem to be gathering every comabt capable Jedi not already assigned, and you certainly fit that bill. You don't actually know, in any detail, any of the standard Jedi on this mission, but you remember Xeth, of course, who you have been told will be there.
Ok, let's get this started.
