The movie is based on a true story. The guy didn't kill people with a chainsaw, but he did use them as food. In the movie they show him taking off the mask, showing that he has no nose. In real life he did have a nose. He did sew people's faces together to wear as masks. In the end, they show a clip from the real police footage of the house. The policeman's pointing out clawmarks on the walls on the stairs. As he's walking down, the real Leatherface jumps out and knocks him down and kills him. That was the last footage ever of Leatherface. The police never caught him.

thats what HAPPENS in the movie. it doens't say it happened in REAL LIFE. Thomas Hewitt didn't even exist.
