Why do threads here get closed once they're answered?

I mean, fair enough if there's problems, but just say it goes a bit off topic and it turns into general chat? Why close that?

It's not like it lowers the quality of this N&Q's forum

And even if this forum is meant to be the doomy, gloomy, oh-so-serious "lets only answer questions" forum, why not move it to the OTF to continue 😕 It just seems like the mods exercising their power for no reason except to stop us having a potentially good conversation 😬

but really, why close them rather than just move them if its gone OT?

cause the N&A isn't here for having a chat, it's solely to help people with their problems

but i hardly see how if someone has a new question, it would be answered any less quickly because of some chat?

if they have a new question, they should make a new thread

makes it for other people who can experience the same problem a lot easier to see if it's already answered instead of going through all the latest threads

than they make a new one about it if they don't use the 'search' function

chatter will only distract people from the problem

but there is no problem if its been answered already....

so it no longer becomes a problem thread, just a solution thread, so why not carry on conversations orlet them die out.... or move them to a more suitable forum?

as yerss said N&Q aint made for chattering.
it is made to solve questions, once a question is answered it get closed because well the subject is dealt with, if you want to talk to ppl in threads go to OTF or GDF

why is it, when it is answered, it is left to die off...

but if it is answered and goes off topic, it is closed?

cause this isn't the OTF! it's not about chatter, chatter is offtopic, therefor it gets closed

this is supposed to be a SERIOUS forum

in the other forums we (NORMALY) also close threads that go off topic (but only when they reach more than a 100 posts)

with other forums, Fire, actually means GDF

it's up to the local mods to deceide if they adapt that rule or not

well it used to be a rule in all forums, forum mods just dont care

nah ofc not dvae but once a question is answered everything following up on that is OF

cause the GDF is the place for serious discussions
OTF is to report to people you broke your fingernail 🙄

its just that this is a forum for everyone (from OTF, GDF, movies, noobs, etc....) and you never really get to talk to any of them properly, cos if you do... WHAM! it gets closed

perhaps you haven't read fire and my replies lately in this thread...
