Political Extremists

Well, we all know the clichéd conservative extremist that everyone on these boards is so quick to generalize all of us as--the Bible-thumping, straight-to-hell damning, racist pig.

How about the left extremists? They may be less vocal, but surely they are there. I presume they are more...subversive, but that is only an assumption.

Does anyone have any NEW examples of political extremism?

(That's the nice way of me asking for examples of left-wing examples without people freaking out on me for being the stupid Republican that I am.)

I am a moderate democrat who doesn't really go for Nancy Pelosi's policies. I prefer more moderete postiions.

I have some liberal postions and I have some conservative postions.

I hear a lot of far left people have problems with the death penalty and want to burn flags.

Milton Freidman is a free-economy/libertarian extremist and is responsible for much of the attroicity of Augusto Pinochett's rule

Sure, an example of a left wing extremist is as follows -

Thinks everything Bush does is horrific and destined to damn America/the world in armageddon (Won't have any comment defending their beliefs of Bush decisions causing world wide destruction in 10 years, when we're all still here) also makes baseless comparisons of Bush/Hitler.

Thinks everyone should have equal rights and we should keep an open mind about everything, such as NAMBLA and Bestiality.

Thinks Bill Mahr is the greatest comic/political commentator in the world, despite the fact that half of what he says is bullshit.

Think "Truth.com" is a valid and credible website.

Thinks big corperations are evil, no matter what. And they're to blame for everything wrong in this world, all the while wearing Levi's faded jeans and numerous other clothing articles purchased at "The Gap"

Thinks every religion is horrible in every way, and doesn't recognize the positives of numerous religions.

"Save the rainforest" mantra is their favorite phrase in the world.

Protests everything they don't like, then ***** when a car runs them over while they're loitering in the street with their idiot signs.

Listens to Air America Radio, a blatantly liberal station, that is also blatantly one sided, but bitches about Rush Limbaugh being one sided.

May or may not look like Micheal Moore.

don't know about bill maher, technically libertarianism is a right wing belief.
Bestiality and pedophelia are wrong because they involve sexual activity that by legal definition cannot be consensual and therefore is rape.

an example of a right wing extremist is as follows -

Thinks everything Bush does is wonderful and perfect. Also makes baseless comparisons of Bush/Jesus.

Thinks everyone should have equal rights -- Except gays.

Thinks Bill O'Reilly is the greatest comic/political commentator in the world, despite the fact that half of what he says is bullshit.

Thinks "freerepublic.com" is a valid and credible website.

Thinks big corporations are good, no matter what. And they're to thank for everything right in this world.

Thinks every religion is horrible in every way -- except christianity -- and doesn't recognize the positives of numerous religions.

"God Bless America" mantra is their favorite phrase in the world.

Protests everything they don't like, then b*tch when a car runs them over while they're loitering in the street with their idiot signs.

Listens to Savage Nation, a blatantly rightwing station, that is also blatantly one sided, but bitches about Air America being one sided.

May or may not look like Rush Limbaugh.

Contrary to what many of you might think, I am not a democrat. Nor am I a liberal. My true political views are much more strict and nonsensical, considering the position in which I find myself in the world today. I'm not even sure that I know what I am, from a political view. I wrote a paper in the 11th grade. The topic was to form your own political party and set out a guideline for what views your party held. I pulled from all sorts of different political ideals to complete the assignment. When it was all over with and I handed in my paper, it was way over the ten page limit. Senior year, everyone was supposed to hand in descriptions of what they thought their friends would be in the future. Overwhelmingly everyone agreed on me. At the award cerimony I was called to stage as the person most likely to be voted dictator for life of a European country.

Oh, and I do think Bill Maher is one of the greatest commentators. But he isn't a democrat either. He's Libritarian.

Yep

Goes to show how extremists on both sides are full of shit.

Oh, and I do think Bill Maher is one of the greatest commentators. But he isn't a democrat either. He's Libritarian.

He's great, like Jon Stewart, but for grown-ups. Then again, TDS is entirely different from Real Time. Commentary-wise, they're similar.

But then again, I've believed for a long time that the federal government should be limited to providing social programs and the states should govern themselves w.r.t. laws. Of course, there's melding when it comes to things like federal crimes and state-specific programs.

The federal government is like a one-size-fits-all institution, and it should be limited to one-size-fits-all programs, legislation, and services like universal health care, civil rights, higher education grants, military, etc. States are specific organs capable of managing themselves outside of the federal realm with regard to things like non-federal criminal legislation, taxation, schools, etc. If the states tax the citizens, then the fed takes a percentage from the states' revenue, this would undoubtedly cut back on the red tape.

But what am I thinking? Limited government in today's US? The odds of me getting struck by lightning while in the basement are better.

sorry Fece can't help you out, since I think you're looking for american Left-wing extremists, but BF was right both extremes are full of BS

That's why they call'em extremists.

But the political spectrum in the US has narrowed so much over the past 50 years or so that a couple things are now evident:

a) Europe treats our political atmosphere like a grade-school fart joke.

b) Nixon was more liberal than "flaming liberal" Kerry. It's not up for debate, one can easily look in the LoC and Congressional recordkeeping websites and find that information, clear as day. If you ask for links, you shall receive.

With those in mind, make sure your definition of 'extremist' are objective and not subjective to the US' political spectrum, because even Ted Kennedy would be right-wing in Europe. But hey, what do the Europeans know about politics, right?

Think I care about the US political spectrum?

I don't even believe in a two-party system so whatever happens in the US I still won't like it one bit

See, now that's the spirit. The two-party system has created a society that is completely xenophobic to any type of original political views.

Well a two-party system makes for much harder and fouler campaigns. You don't even have to proof you're (or your party) is the best, you just have to proof the others are worse.

With a more intrusive state anyone not of the government line can be called an "extremist." How do you define a non "extremist?"

true, kinda hard

He has a point.

Shit, I think he stumped me.

I know I'm pretty much a left wing extremist. Tho I listen to everyone and try to keep as many people as possible content.

I think searching for a compromise is what defines a non-extremist

but if keeping as many people content as possible defines a non-extremist, wouldn't that be you?

I said pretty much 😛

There are a few issues on which I don't give a crap about keeping most people content. I know I'm right and as one of our greatest prime ministers once said: "The people elect a government to govern, Then they have to respect its decisions."

(in context it meant that Belgium was going to introduce the Euro, against a big portion of the peoples will at the time)
