Borderline Genre Debate

A while back, I saw that two of my threads, about Blade and Underworld, had been moved to the Horror Forum from the MDF. I personally think that this is wrong. And recently I saw a Van Helsing thread in Horror. This is ad judgment because Blade, Underworld, and Van Helsing are all ACTION movies. There are few real horror elements in these movie other than the character bases.

Anyway, what I'm asking is: Why do Sci-Fi Action Movies keep getting moved to the Horror forum where they don't belong?

I don't know lord soth I personaly feel any thing with a monster in it is horror.

I love interview with a vampire and don't really watch it and consider it horror ,more of a drama..but there are vampires so it's horror..know what I mean?

[glow=green]Yes and no. I understand why you would think that way, but if a movie comes out where there's a vampire, who doesn't scare anybody at all. There's no scares. It's just plain old-fashioned gunslinging. This, would not belong in a Horror Forum...know what I mean?

it's up to what the mod things it is, I guess

Well blast them! They can be wrong!

Movies these days arent just horror or drama. They, pretty much, always have to genre.
Its very hard to decide where they belong.

Yup, up to the individual mods to make a decision. If the Horror mod (BF) thinks it doesn't belong, I'm sure he'd move it.

Well, fine then

I myself don't consider them horror, but they're close enough to wear I don't want to confuse the members currently active in the thread by moving it to another forum.

Maybe there should be a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Forum. Yeah, I know we have Matrix, LotR, Harry Potter forums and stuff like that, but I'm talking about the 'Other' Sci-Fi/Fantasy movies, such as Van Helsing, Underworld and the like, you know?

Nah, they fit perfectly fine into the horror forum, i basically let most sci fi/horror films stay in there.

Yes, sci-fi/horror fit there, but what about the stuff that isn't horror, like technological thrillers, or Resident Evil?(that fits in Sci-fi/fantasy more than horror, it's about a virus engineered by a geneitcs company....). A Scfi-Fi/Fantasy forum makes perfect sense to me

Movie Discussion Soth

Yes, it's either the Horror or Movie Discussion forum.

Sci-fi/Fantasy is a large enough genre to get it's own forum, wouldn't you think?

Resident Evil, and films like it, fit fine in the horror section. It has many horror attributes and has caused no confusion.

All the rest of the sci fi films fit perfectly well into the movie discussion forum.

What really bakes my noodle is why my thread "Hardware Wars", about the first SW parody, was taken from the SW section and dropped into general movie discussion.

But, mine is not to wonder why....
