They look cheesy, especially after I read ages ago one of the people involved mentioning it is sooooooo creepy and scary...

Tell me about it. I kept on hearing how revolutionary and amazing the Tritovore was going to be. I just thought of a design for the Tritovore that could not only be just suitmation, but is a million times better than the actual one.

As for Wilf as a companion, I don't like the choice. He is fine as Donna's Grandfather, but as a companion to an adventurous Doctor... unless there is a second companion also. I'm thinking of the right Wilf? What happened to that Rome actress as a companion for one of the specials...

He's going to be the compaion?! SWEET!

I liked the nod to the Master's supposed return - the knock 4 times bit, etc.

Good episode, though I was incredibly bummed at the surprise change in the Tritovore's role. Besides that, good solid episode. The beginning was somewhat poor, but the rest of the story was action packed and fun.

Not seen the special yet...Shall watch the repeat of it on Monday. Saw a news item on the BBC24 News with RTD and he said there was another special in November with a two part Xmas story marking the end of the DT ere.

That Rome actress I was on about is in the Waters of/on Mars special that's is on in the Autumn, so she is the companion for the next I assume.

I was very happy with Planet of the Dead, also liked Michelle Ryan as the companion, though her posh voice was a bit dodgy at times.

Nice episode. Next special looks excellent!

The flying bus was a bit much for me. Apart from that I liked it, well another big wait for the next one.

Do the States get new episodes? I just catch old marathons occasionally on the Sci-Fi channel.

Yeah, but there's not really been anything new for a while, and who knows when we'll get the specials and stuff on TV here.

Gooooo internet.

Heh, I guess so. There's plenty of back-story stuff that I'm catching up on though, so the Sci-Fi Channel marathons are keeping me sated.

I'm also trying to put together a 10th Doctor costume for this Halloween. They don't sell them wholesale, and piecing together a legitimately classy costume like his is expensive. If anyone has any ideas or sites I should check out, feel free to post them. Otherwise, it'll be a lot of trolling around in thrift stores hoping to get lucky with mainly the jacket but also the suit.

I'll keep a lookout Digi, anyway loved the special can't wait for the next.

Anyone hope they get Gillian Anderson for a role in Doctor Who, apparently they have been trying to get her, in a villain role. Oh I hope they do. Would be fantastic.

I need some professional opinions:

What I'm going for is something like this:

Clearly he never wears anything as busy as the first suit, but I honestly think it would stay true to the "feel" of his look, and might actually be more fun. The second suit would be the safer play, clearly.

But I have the glasses, sonic screwdriver, and trenchcoat on order, so I'm actually very close to having the full costume completed months in advance.

They look a bit too bright. His suit is darker.

or this colour version:

Problem is, when he's wearing it, he's David Tennant, so he's the Doctor. I need my costume to be distinct enough or I'll just look like a dude in a suit. Which is why I am going with the blue suit over the other version you posted. It stands out more. So I'm not going for parody, but I don't mind embellishing the costume a bit for the sake of theatricality.

That shade of blue is also tough to find. It's either a too-dark navy or the blue that I linked.

I also just love that first insane suit I posted. I'd totally use it for other stuff, even thought it's clearly not closer to Doctor Who.

😮

But you're right about them being too bright in terms of what Tennant actually wears. I'll have to give it some thought.

Here's the jacket, btw:

Haven't officially won it yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It seems like a legitimately nice jacket, so $45 isn't really much to spend on it.

Make a screw driver and then people will know once they see you with it.

The last Doctor costume I saw was good because the guy looked like David Tennant and walked around with a gleeful smile all the time.

He also had a blow-up Tardis, though. 😉 That helps!

Nuul - He has already said he has the sonic screwdriver...

The suit's the last decision I need to make. I just have to decide how flamboyant about it I want to be. I won the jacket today, so hooray, and will be purchasing the tie soon.

Also haven't decided if I'm going to try to go for absolute fidelity in the costume and buy his signature style of shoes. Or just wear my regular tennis shoes.

But the screwdriver came in the mail today. Actual multi-function doo-hicky, complete with a hidden invisible ink pen for the "psychic paper" wallet, that you can view by shining the screwdiver's light on. Fun stuff.
