Faith and Medicine: Where is the Line?
I've heard some stories of highly-religous people who have refused to give their children vaccines and/or medical treatments because their faith prohibits it. I remember one story where a seven year old boy died of pnemonia because their parents refused treatment. They thought that their child's fate was solely in God's hands and no human being should interfere with God's will. What do you guys think?
I think thats insane..
If they think like that they should never take a step, for all they know it was gods will for him to be saved by those medicines, reminds me of a joke.
A guy was on a boat in the middle of the sea when a storm came and his boat sunk, he managed to survive. Lying there on the water he started praying for god to help him. Some time later a boat came by, the people there wanted to pick him up but he refused help. "God will save me, i do not need your help." He stayed there and the boat went away. He started praying again, for the winds to take him to shore. He prayed and prayed until a helicopter came by. "Grab the hook we will save you." "Leave me be, i do not need your help God will save me." he shouted back at the pilot and the helicopter went away. He started praying again. Some time later when he almost giving up hope another boat came by offering to pick him up. But once again he refused the help saying that god will save him. A few minutes later he drowned.
Being dead and all his soul went to heaven there he met god and he was pissed off. "I have served you my entire life, always went to church prayed lived my life by your laws and always did what you wanted, why did you not save me?" "what are you talking about? I gave you three chances, you are the idiot that turned them down."
Thats how i feel about it, if god exists and a chance for life gets offered to you, then you accept it. Stupid idiots

"THAT "IS" THE LINE" those parents should be publically hanged. n in most countries there are no laws or APPLICABLE laws guarding the children rights.
most of the time, if the parents are that naive, they are likely to be uneducated. and some cultures do prohibit the help of modern medicine. there's somethings that we just would not fully understand. and religion is one of them. when people believe in something, it's hard to make them non-believers. it's tatooed in their minds. nobody can force them to undo it.
