Aha....SW books twice in a row! 😛

ON-TOPIC: Well, I must say, I really enjoyed Stover's style of writing.
I like how he fleshed out the characters, (especially some of the lesser or at least lesser-developed characters). I was just a tad upset that neither Kashyyyk nor Chewbacca were mentioned, but it is forgiveable.

I must say, being a person who's read the ILLUSTRATED SCREENPLAY, the dialogue between Palpatine/Sidious, Mace, Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin, and Kit Fisto was quite better and more dramatic than what will appear in the movie.

I particularily enjoyed the last chapters of the book, especially when it went into the point-of-view of Darth Vader on page 416. I actually shed a tear when I set the book down.

Star Wars in general has been a part of my life since I was born, back in '77. That's 28 years for me this July, and to think that it's ending in 17 days....this is both the movie and the book to go out on.

Overall, I liked this book. But my opinion is most likely based on the fact that I love Star Wars and have loved it my entire life. Some of the writing got a tad repetitive, (no pun intended), but it was quite well written. The only thing that turned me off both the book and the author was a comment Stover gave to Reuters, I believe, along the lines that this book would make him a household and famous name. Something about it topping lists, which it really hasn't....

But all in all, if I were to give the book a rating out of 10, I would give it: a 9.5. A great effort, and a must have for all SW fans, but that comment he made gets to me. 😉

The only thing I didn't like about this book was the poetic parts at the beginning and the end.

Also, it was much too short. They didn't go into any detail of the Kashyyyk battle, we didn't get to hear about Yoda's introduction to Tarfful or Chewbacca. Their names aren't even mentioned in the book.

It should have been a much bigger book, going into detail of every last thing in the movie, and beyond.

Still...9/10

hehe...you guys outnumber us. 😛

But seriously would it be a good idea to read the book prior to the movie? Or should we watch out for spoilers? The reason I ask is because I'm defenetly watching Episode III but I worried that if I read the book first I might get over spoiled. So do you guys recommend reading the book first before going to see the film?

If you like surprises then stay away from the novel.

Otherwise I'd say read it. I read AOTC, and ROTS novels before the movies. I did the same with comic book movies, I read the novelization first. I just like to do it that way.

It all depends on the person.

Indeed, I like surprises. So I'll watch the film first and then read the book. I hate to be over spoiled. Thanks Ken!

Spoilers be damned....the only surprises I'll get out of the movie will be the visual effects and the Kashyyyk sequence! 😛

Yes that is one gripe I had with Matthew Stover's portrayal of the movie, he didn't get into detail with Kashyyyk, we never see Tarfful or Chewie or anything.

Meh, I'm kinda' glad.

Spoiler:
I'm looking forward to seeing and not reading about Yoda's first schtick. 😉

Seen the movie now is time to read the book. 😊

I got the book today, so first need to finish MedStar II

read the first chapter, it's something that isn't like a traditional sw novel, which is good

Sucks that barely anybody posted here....should've nominated it for June and not May....😛

I've bought the book, I'm a third of the way through, and so far I think it's even better than the movie. The way the characters and themes are explored in such depth really helps illustrate what the movies haven't explored as deeply. Stover really explains the Force well in this book.

I'm mad that that wasn't in the book, or the movie. 🙁
