no it certainly wasn't. 😉

It was late and I was tired. Bugger off. 🙂

bugger.......... that's a fun word. i think i'll use it.

"Bugger" is a great word and quite unusual for an American to say. My favourite word is "Jobbie" but thats for another forum! Back to the topic!

back ON topic please

subject...........right! lars is a dorky name. hence the switch to Skywalker. has a nice " i'm here to save you" ring to it, doesn't it?

Could it be that Padmé wanted Luke to keep his father's surname?? I think that could be a possibility. Maybe it was Obi-Wan himself who wanted this. This is something I've been wondering...

he didn't remember his mother, remember? and skywalker would be a very conspicuous name to have if Darth Vader is looking for you, so Padme probably didn't use it. and Luke had no idea about his parentage so he wouldn't care if he used it. or maybe he iddn't like his uncle enough to use his name! who knows?!

But Darth Vader would probably NEVER go to Tatooine again, as it brings him such bad memories... And we're not sure if he knew he had a son. It was risky that Luke kept his original surname, but I think he would be safe on Tatooine.

sure he was safe, that's why he was put there in the first place. except he didn't know he NEEDED to be safe. that's why he went parading around with the cool name of Skywalker.

Remember, too, that the best hiding place is atop the mantel (something like that). As it's been noted, a Skywalker on Tattooine wouldn't necessarily raise an eyebrow; after all, Shmi had parents, and she could just as easily have had brothers and sisters. Luke could have a dozen cousins.

Vader might have had his troops scour the Skywalker clan on Tattooine once or twice during Luke's childhood (if Tarkin were to allow such expenditures of time and manpower), but even then, he might not have thought to include the Lars farm in that investigation.

Since the tragedy of his mother's death accompanied his first meeting with the Lars family, and he left indefinitely soon thereafter, there's no reason their farm would be foremost on his mind when it came to potential hiding spots.

Besides, he's been too busy in the intervening years attending to Imperial business to devote that much time to looking for his kids; plus, he knows that their paths will eventually cross anyway (the Force works in mysterious ways).

well, it can always the plan of Ben that Vader DID find out 😉

but not until Luke was ready for him. jsut like he didn't tell Luke that Vader was his father, because when he did, Luke didn't want to kill him.
