On working with Matthew Vaughn...
I'm incredibly excited about Matthew. I love his sensibilities. He's the real deal, he's really interesting. I mean Layer Cake was great but just to see his way of dramatising stuff, we are very excited. I thought Layer Cake was incredibly stylish and it had a lot of characters - very much like usual suspects. In some ways he had stylistically the look of X-Men. We met before, when he was a producer, and we just started to make it happen. Movies this size, it's hard to wing it. But what I like about Matthew is he's very confident; 'Yeah I can do that, I can do that'! And his sensibility. Just when we just started we had some conversation about one of the characters and he says ' I have an idea of how to introduce him, and it's a really smart thing and it's probably in the movie.

On the story and scale of X3...
With X-Men the scope will always be big, and bigger and bigger because of confidence. Everybody's expecting Dark Phoenix, but Dark Phoenix will never be the main show. It should be one of the characters, that's it, there's a lot of stories to tell. And Matthew needed something that was very big. Movie two, it was mutants against humans, uh; movie one was just to understand. Movie three is probably, philosophically the most interesting and provocative for all of us. Uh, it will be an interesting debate. Should we or shouldn't we? All that I can tell you is, uh, it's going to be a very interesting dilemma. It's a very intelligent movie. I think it's, contextually it will be the best. And we are so excited. On new characters...
There won't be a female angel. But there'll be interesting characters that will be introduced actually. We have to move forward. Obviously we have Wolverine and Magneto and Professor X, Jean and Storm, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, all these characters, but then you need to freshen up the story and bring in something new. But this story was such an opportunity to open Wolverine up, in an unique way.

Ok, i'm really worried about that last comment. Unless he means literally cutting opening that little hairy thing up 😛

Ok, so the last one was about wolverine and his origin. yay! now lets do something different, preferably the Dark Phoenix if you can pull it off!

unless someone bigger than jackman comes on board i doubt it...

phoenix wont be a focus.....*sigh.....i wonder who this new character their introducing is? i think gambit will be a good choice./..

We won't get gambit.Were not that lucky.
Juggernaut will be cool but no phoenix or gambit is just too much.

Why can't the Phoenix be the main show for X3?

The last 2 films have already showed hints of Jean's transformation into the Phoenix so it is only fitting that she'd be the main focus of this film. As much as I enjoyed Wolverine, I'm going to agree with everyone here and say that he should not get anymore attention than he already has from the other films.

There are other characters that deserve more attention than Wolverine.

Jeez... Wolverine is cool, but not that cool...

yi doubt they'll draw too much on the bad guy..they'll need to focus on a new 'god guy' and the only ones there are angel, gambit and beast

Its probably going to focus on Wolverine and a few other x-men, just like the last films.

Why is everyone jumping up and down when they have no clue what the hell is going to happen. When he talked about wolverine opening up you guys are taking it out of context. When he talks about it being more philosophical he is saying that he wants to delve deeper into the xmen and show who they are not necessarily what they do. Everyone needs to calm down. Gambit wouldn't really be a good choice. Beast would be cool. and the phoenix can't be the main story because it's too big. at least for the third film. but how the hell do I know what these people are thinking? Everybody needs to calm down!

If they couldn't handle the phoenix,they shouldn't have went in that direction in x2.

that is a good point....anyone who's every read or watched or knows anything about x-men knows that the ending was leading up to a phoenix arch.....it may prove to ba an anti-climax >__<

I guess that's why cyclops won't be in this one much either.

No that's not what I mean.
I've herd James Marsden won't be able to shoot x3 for very long (2 weeks).
Meaning he probaly won't be in x3 for long
