Personal background: At the age of 17, after his parents died, Yoshiaki joined the military and displayed much talent. His great talent was then recognized by none other than the elite S.T.A.R.S. at the age of 18. During the initial mission at the Arklay Mountains, he was training back at HQ. The mission reports started to bug him so he dug a little deeper and discovered what he believed to be the "truth" behind S.T.A.R.S. and Umbrella. This eventually made him believe that leaving S.T.A.R.S. would be the right thing to do. As hell slowly spread around him and the Virus made its way to many other cities, he took a small boat and headed for an Island off the coast.
