Yeah, there are. I know that there are some usernames missing from profiles from back when we could change them ourselves - mine doesn't have Silver Stardust listed, for example.

I'd assume it still counts as taken...

English Moosette is missing from my previous username list, but Syren is on it as my first choice of name. I got it back after I decided I didn't like Lady von Tramp any more mwahaha
