Does it raeally matter? Warpath (and didnt he origianlly called himself Thunderbird too?) was a hellion and was gonna kill Xavier to avenge his brother Thunderbirds death so he had a stint with being (kinda) bad.
Also I dont think they were gonna go taht deep into it, and surely just call him Thunderbird (he was also in a genosha episode if I remember correctly) and only have one of them. Also it clearly looks more like the original Thunderbird costume (which warpath also wore), we shouldn't go too deeply into that since it has to do with the artist rendering (like what looks better, the physique, or maybe the artist didnt know the difference himself.) 🙄
Okay. Actually, Warpath took over Thunderbird when the latter died in rescuing the X-Men. I guess. They supposed to have the same costume.
I repeat, Thunderbird DIED while rescuing the FIRST X-Men. Namely: Cyclops, Angel, Marvel Girl, Iceman and Beast.
The Prof recruited new mutants from around the world to resuce his first students from - uh, I forgot who the responsible was. This includes Storm from Africa, Nightcralwer from Germany, Sunfire [sp?] from Japan, Colossus from Russia, Thunderbird from Apache country, Wolverine from anywhere... etc. Remember Giant-size X-Men? A special edition from X-Men The First Series.
Well, unfortunately, Thunderbird didn't survive. Imagine this series and compare it to the TAS time when they got that costume. Guys, it's already in the era of X-Men Series 2. Surely, Thunderbird didn't live that far.
