Why isn't Anakin a Jedi Knight in AOTC??

I mean, come on, he is the chosen one and one of the most gifted jedi ever so why does it take him so long to become a jedi knight? He's been training with Obi Wan for 12 years (counting two first years of the clone wars) plus he fought with a sith lord and lasted much longer then his jedi master Obi Wan!
Lucas said that Anakin and Obi Wan were threaded as heroes of the Republic during the clone wars, they were like superstars... so everybody was aware of his powers except the "wise" Jedi Council!

Also i think it's kind a stupid that Obi Wan becomes a Jedi Master so quickly and then a few years later joins the Jedi Council! I mean, lets face it, after the fight with Darth Maul, he really didn't do anything that should give him a promotion!

Your comments??

It is precisely because the Council are wise that they didn't accelerate his training.

He was too immature and not ready- as should be patently obvious!

it's not cause he is the chosen one he should be made master immediatly. As should be clear in AOTC, he isn't ready: he was immature, cocky, let his emotions got the upperhand etc.

What Ush said

HE was too young, surely a 17/18 year old should be a knight

Not even Obi-Wan was a Knight by the age of 17 or 18; he was around 25 or so.

Supposedly, a Knight becomes an official master due not to training or power, but simply because they successfully trained a Padawan to Knighthood. That's an issue for discussion, but allegedly Obi-Wan's status as a high council member was granted due to his actions during the Clone Wars; Obi-Wan was a superb general and tactician, whose actions were directed with a wisdom beyond his years.

Spoiler:
when in ROTS, Mace says they don't grant Anakin the right to Master, it's clear that there is no need to train a padawan to become a master (in the Jedi Master way), but is rather given from the Council to the jedi in question

He wasn't remotely close to being ready for knighthood at that time.
Just like he wasn't ready to be named a Master in ROTS.
