my favorite trilogy is George Romero's Dead trilogy (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead).
The reason being......there is no weak film. All are great in their own right.
I like Star Wars.....but Jedi is pretty weak. Nowhere near as good as the previous two flicks. Bad note to end the series on.
Same goes for the Indy series. Temple of Doom just sticks out like a sore thumb. It's a decent flick.....just nowhere near as good as Raiders or Last Crusade.
LoTR......I'm sorry. I just can't get into these films. Maybe it's because of all the hobbit, elves, trolls, magicians, etc. but I just can't seem to force myself to be interested in fantasy films. I'd rather watch the Princess Bride.
The Matrix trilogy........good. Reloaded isn't as good as the first and Revolutions but still a good trilogy as a whole.
Evil Dead.......one of my favorite films of all time. I must admit however that Army was a huge injustice to the series. Sam and Bruce should not have capped off a horror series with a slapstick comedy. Army of Darkness is just too different from the previous two films for me to consider it as a great trilogy.
Wow, I can't believe that there are only about 3 votes for The Godfather Trilogy. I would have thought more people would have been into that. Maybe it's a case of age showing for some posters (just a thought). I mean, I know that people complain about Godfather III, but for all of it's downfalls, it's still about 50x better than The Temple of Doom of which the Indy 'trilogy' has a LOT more votes than GF.
JM2CW... I'll shut up now.
As far as the Alien movies go (specifically 3 and 4), I found 3 to be just downright stupid. Four was at least entertaining (IMHO) although the Ridley clone was outright ****in' dumb.
As trilogies go, most should never make it past the first movie and even fewer should never make it past the second. Then again, most movies that people consider to be trilogies really aren't trilogies at all (ie: Austin Powers, Scary Movie, Indiana Jones, Die Hard, etc).

I'm going to add the Robocop Trilogy. Even thought the third film was horribly bad! I still like the character of Robocop.
