Well they have confirmed that ROTS made $16 million just from the midnight showings, shattering the record for midnight showings held by Lord of the Rings: ROTK, which was $8 million. I truly think it is going to break Spiderman's opening weekend record of $115 million.

i just herd something on cnn thats said somthing like 50 million, but i didnt here enough to know EXACTLY what they were talking about but i guess its been confirmed it has made atleast 50 million

50 million in one day for sith !!!
yea baby yea!!!!
💃

Just minutes ago MarketWatch reported;

Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith scored $50 million in first-day receipts at 3,661 theaters across the nation on Thursday, box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations said Friday. The take handily beats the one-day record of $44.8 million set last year by "Shrek 2." "Sith" is distributed by News Corp.'s (NWS) 20th Century Fox film unit.

I doubt it will take the throne of top grossing flick, but jesus...50 million in a day!!! wow

100 million weekend is expected easily.

WOW!! And they're complaining about internet piracy. Greedy bastards! 😠

They're right to still complain about piracy...

While Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith was expected to have a big opening, no one expected it to be this big! George Lucas' third and final prequel in the "Star Wars" saga earned an incredible $50 million from 3,661 theaters on Thursday alone. That's an average of $13,661 per location for just one day.

The $50 million opening, which includes $16.5 million from midnight screenings, blows away the $40.4 million opening day record held previously by Spider-Man 2 from 4,152 theaters, and it also marks the biggest single day ever at the North American box office, beating Shrek 2's $44.8 million from 4,163 theaters.

In comparison, 1999's Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace debuted to $28.5 million in 2,970 theaters and 2002's Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones to $30.1 million in 3,161 locations.

Released by 20th Century Fox, "Revenge of the Sith" was produced for about $113 million.

lol how the hell did titanic ever get so much anyways lol, it a OK movie but really i mean, it had some inpressive parts with ship sinking but not that big lol.

Here are actual numbers...and new records:

Midnight Screening: $16,912,367
Opening Day: $50,013,859

Records that will never be broken...until prices are $20 per ticket.

Old news rocks!

Merging...

$50 Million in one day unbelievable If it breaks Spiderman's Record Weekend of $114 Million That would put it at $165 Million and already in the top 100 Highest Grossing Film's in the USA. After one weekend I think it's possible that ROTS will pass Spiderman. Now all we need to do is sink the damn boat 🙂 .

What amazes me is that the movie already out gross 9 of the 10 movies that are in the top 10 boxoffice of the week and they did it in a day. The only movie it has not out gross is The Interpreter, which has $62 million, but that will all change by the end of the night.

I doubt it'll knock Titanic... remember, internet movie pirating wasn't big back then. (was it even around?)

Internet Piracy doesnt have much to do with this movie I dont think....SW fans are gonna d/l it and still see it at the theatre several times....and still again buy the dvd...just having a shity copy on your pc doesnt prevent you from paying for something thats good
