Cool... all good films in my book.

Which makes me even more puzzled as to how you can feel the way you do about Revenge of the Sith.

I think it is a good film. It even has the potential to be great. But it is missing something that the originals (even Jedi) have... and I can't quite put my finger on it...

The Empire Strikes Back is one of best films (if not the best film) ever made.

Like Lucas said: Movies are binary. They either work or they don't.

This one doesn't...and neither do episodes I and II. If they all have one thing in common it's bad pacing.

Lucas is forever talking out of his arse...

Movies can work in some ways but not others. To say that is stupid.

Episodes I and II are badly paced I agree... but they succeed on other aspects. Though I'll admit I don't think these other aspects are enough to carry the entire films... which makes them bad films. But I enjoy them nonetheless. Even if only because they are Star Wars.

Episode III is different... it succeeds on more fronts than it fails in my opinion. ('in my opinion' being the key here 😉 ) Which makes it, in my books, a good film.

But that's just me.

😎

True. There's lotsa films that don't "work" but still have redeemable qualities.

Lucas is just too big now...so big that nobody around him has had the guts over the past decade to go up to him and say..."actually I think your dialogue stinks...and that whole thing about little Ani flying into the Trade federation starship and blowing it up to end the most anticipated film in history is actually kinda lame."

They all kiss his feet (look at the dvd documentaries).

It's sick.

the thing its missing is the flow the OT had, in ROTS too much thing is happening in too little time. The one thing that really bugged me the most of EP III is nothing on the Sifo Dyas matter and nothing on the erased archive. I know someone is gonna refer me to that book Labyrinths of evil for this , but I only consider the movies and it was a plot taken up in AOTC and it has been left unanswered.

I wish they never made the prequels

The people closest to Lucas do kiss his arse.. which is a shame. A shame that they feel they can't be honest. Unless that's what they really think... and if they do that's just really sad.

The thing about George though that I find admirable is that he is aware of all this bad talk of him. He knows people don't like his work. He knows people think he has made bad decisions and yet he continued to make these same 'bad' decisions.

He continues to do what he thinks is right. And he's left with films he can call his own. That, to me, is an admirable thing. To not care what others think. He has balls. Something too few directors have these days.

It's just a shame his decisions aren't always too great from my point of view...

I don't really care about the Sifo Dyas, erasing of the files thing. And I agree with you on only counting the films and not books etc. But for me everything is clear. Sifo Dyas is... *gasp* Sifo Dyas. Someone Dooku got to erase the Kamino files. 'nuff said.

Totally. I left the theatre and I was like...what the...just happened.

I wanted to look at stuff for just a couple seconds longer so i could let it sink in to my internal Star Wars universe...

i mean how cool is it when we're in the hanger bays in the OT, in ANH and ESB, seeing stuff getting ready and taking off...or when the podracers are starting up, or when the senators starship touches down on the landing platfor in Ep II, cool sound and all.

That's Lucasfilm saying..."yeah, we've been on the cutting edge of effects for longer than anyone. Check this out!" and they flex they're muscles. It's beautiful.

There was nothing done with that much care in in this one...such a bummer.

That's what made Peter Jacksn go back and revisit Two Towers because he thought all that cool stuff Lucasfilm was doing in ATOC was kicking his ass.

That's what I think kills Episode I and II for me... and what kinda kills the Special Editions...

all the establishing shots... really I don't care about all that stuff. That isn't what made the OT so great. It was the characters... the story. Not the visuals....

does he really think that putting in an extended arrival of the Milleniun Falcon on Bespin will make me appreciate it more? That putting a shot of a Jawa falling off a whatever-the-hell-it-is in ANH will give me a better idea of the world?

That, I think, is what George doesn't understand... less is more.

He doesn't do that so much in this film... the establishing shots are just long enough to make us aware of what planet we're on. Which leaves time to develop on other more important things... like characters...

Another thing I missed is cool costumes and interior design. Nothing coming close to menace and clones. Especially for Senator Amidala.

PLUS...she looks the least hottest in this one...you guys gotta gimme that.

comments?

No I admit the prequeals really dont have the same flow and enery the OT they still good but we comparing them against legendary films

He's right guys, there wasn't any emotion in Episode 3. No despair or heatbreak when Obi-Wan saw that Anakin had killed the younglings, or when he left Anakin for dead. Or when Anakin screamed I hate you at Obi-Wan.

There was no pain in Yoda when he felt the death of all the younglings, and fellow Jedi.

And Sidious, he was just unconvincing.

yeah...there were not a lot of emotions...though if u think about the teachings of the jedi...they probably controlled themselve not to be too emotional...cuz it kinda leads to the dark side...yoda did had some kinda heartache during order 66 and in episode 1 when qui-gon jinn died, obi-wan wasn't that sad as well...
