Alternative titles a.k.a. different titles in different countries
Anyone know why some films have different names in different countries, like Braindead ( Dead Alive in the US), Sleepaway camp ( Nightmare Vacation in the UK), Zombie Flesh Eaters ( Zombie, Zombi 2 )Etc....its mostly older horror films
Is it to do with the language?, i suppose theres different reasons.
Some have to do with culture too, whether people understand the title in other countries or not.
Non-horror example: UHF (US title) is "The Vidiot From UHF" in other countries. They did that because people in other countries don't know what a UHF station is. As you can see, they still had that problem with this other title. 😛
if you are an horror movie collector alternative(aka) titles are something u need to find out about for instence i went to greece bought shit loads of horror movies ,while there i picked 1 up called horrible,the cover was garbage looked like some 7 year old had drawn it,had no mention of the actors in it or director,how pissed off do u think i was when i came back home to the uk to look up the aka to find out it was this......

yeah anthro does have a monster in it ,an uncontrollable nonstop killing machine(george eastman) that does eat a feotus in the movie he allso eats his own guts,its a joe damato movie ,low on production values high on gore,and its fillmed in greece so the scenerys nice,lol,what can i say im a gore hound and italian horror out does any poxy friday the 13th clone everyday,just take a look at the original video nastys (banned) list id say most are italian horror,anthropohagous definetly aint a family film,but the effects arnt that beleivable,if u want to talk unessecery talk men behind the suns autopsy of a young boy (real autopsy),a film which is basically chinese propaganda,agreed the japanese did experiment on the chinese but i question a film director who has to resort to showing real autopsy footage of an 8 year old boy to get his point across as to how barbaric the japanese were>

ive been collecting since i was 11 years old and cos im in to movies full stop,every1 asks me that id prolly be able to complile a top 100 but couldnt say 1 or 10,lol i liked the burning american werewolf,jaws.exorcistthe thing etc just of the top of my head i love a lot of italian movies ,especially argento stuff like tenebrae and deep red etc i own like just over 6400 tapes that are sat in a bedroom in the uk and now nearly 700 rare uncut tapes and dvds here in aus
there is only really 1 movie i am looking for and that is giallo avenezia but i aing got it cos the only tapes ive seen are copys,i dont buy copys only originals,and the only release (offical release) i know of for giallo avenezia is an italian vhs release on the star video label 🙂

Have you seen the website Hysteria, it has loads of reviews and info and essays etc on banned films and giallos,it really is an exhaustive resource and one of my favourite sites
they were deciding what to do about the "nastys" in 1982 then in 83 they brought in the video recordings act and banned 81 movies
but there were all so other movies they deemed unsuitable for home viewing its quite suprising that pretty tame movies like driler killer were banned but movies like cannibal holocaust cannibal ferox and faces of death were certaintys,but i must admit some really gory movies escaped been banned movies like fulcis naples connection(aka the smuggler) which is a gory gangster flick(bloody great movie),but it was stupid when they banned well made classics like the exorcist evil dead etc 🙁,but i was 12 years old so each week i paid my 5 pound pocket money to my dads friend who owned a video shop,each week i paid him 5 pounds for nearly 2 years and 1 sat i went to pay my 5 pound and he took me back home with nearly 200 tapes on vhs and beta witth all the banned uncertified tapes 🙂 so started my collecting obsession,lol
my most prized tapes are 2 vhs and a beta of THE BEAST IN (THE)HEAT
a crappy exploitation war/experiment movie but the company jvi of rochdale only let out 150 of the tapes b4 it was outright banned so legend goes
