Maybe ideally he should have been ... but they chose to zoom in on his face most of the time so that they could get away with an older guy in a "fast-paced" lightsaber fight.... I remember before the movie they were saying that Sidious will keep fooling his opponent because he keeps changing his fighting styles... hmm.. did anybody see that in the movie? I just saw him change his facial expressions!
