Saying that Bolton is 'plain-speaking' is crap-speak for holding nothing but self-interest. He has no interest in the UN, unless it is centred towards doing something for the US. One of the most important roles of the UN is the humanitarian aid it provides. His views are the antithesis of humanitarianism. His role as the US ambassador to the UN yet again shows the disgusting arrogance and self-interest of the current US government.

Crap speak for holding self interest? Engage your brain. Plain speaking is EXACTLY what he is. All the ambassadors to the UN engage in self-interest to the Government they represent and if you think otherwise you are utterly naive. It's not just Russia and China and the US. It is everyone. That is their JOB.

"The only thing is he is not supposed to express HIS opinions, he is supposed to express the opinions of the citizens of his country"

Untrue! He is there to represent the US administration. And that he will do, no doubt about it.

"Now were gonna send a complete idiot to go "represent" us"

He's not an idiot. He is very capable. You can't call him an idiot just because he has strong opinions.

Sorry, everyone, but this is simply international politics in action. Due to a US shift in attitude, they have sent a hardcore man to represent them at the UN. There is nothing odd or silly about this in the slightest

True, I do regret it however.

It is a shame that your understanding of the role of the UN is based soley on denouncements of it by people like Bolton. That is true naivety.

The role of UN ambassadors is to facilitate international co-operation in solving the greatest threats to humanity. Whether they are successful at this is open to discussion, but that is their role.

Well from the UN point of view indeed. But not from the point of view of many of its members.

Countries like China, the US, Russia and probably many many more (I think only a few countries do not fall into this category) will always put their own interests first (having those Veto's really helps)
