svchost?

Not really after help, sorry if this don't go here. Couldn't think of anywhere else to post it.

Anyway, what is err 'svchost' thingy? Is it good or bad? Should I be trying to remove it? Is it spyware, a virus, worm? All the rest of that. OR is it a microsoft thing?

It always seems to be present in task manager. Don't wanna do owt daft be closing it or whatever but I'm totally in the dark here.

So, ye, anyone got a clue about this?

i don't know..but i have it to 😕
plus my firewall is saying that this program is trying to access the internet from time to time, not allowing has no visible effect 😕

it's a system tool. it's supposed to be there

svchost.exe is a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated. Note: svchost.exe is a process which is registered as the W32.Welchia.Worm. It takes advantage of the Windows LSASS vulnerability, which creates a buffer overflow and instigates your computer to shut down. To see more information about this vulnerability please look at the following Microsoft bulletin: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-011.mspx This is a registered security risk and should be removed immediately. Please see additional details regarding this process

the second thing doesn't mean it is something bad? 😕

*shrugs*
to me Windows is one big bug already 😉

lol, I read that.. I came to the same conclusion as Clovie.. It don't really make sence, it's part of windows but a worm thing as well?

Just a tad confused. I'll leave them be anyway.

it's from windows, just don't touch it 🙂
