Kiro will explain to you the situation as you approach.
"The Techno-Pirates like to rip their way into a ship," she says. "I don't know how much you know about them, but I am sure you have heard that they cybernise themselves as time goes by. They always offer up a hand for their initiation. But those who go into their combat programme and become warriors, the first thing they get is a cybernised chest unit which allows them to operate in vacuum. As they don't care about people, only things, they delight in tearing open ships so everyone inside dies, and they don't care at all.
"Hence the gouge in the side of tha ship; people there would have died at once. But we've lived near the Techno-Pirates for too long not to be wise to their ways. The ship is designed with bulkheads, fields, all matter of vacuum protection. It can divide itself into a hundred different compartment, and to break that system the pirates would have to tear the whole ship apart, and even if they could do that, they'd lose the cargo they were after.
"The plan should have been to seal the pirates in where they boarded and then the security detatchments can have surrounded and dealt with them. There were over a hundred security men aboard. It's very galling that it didn't work."
