Discrepency

I know that chances are this has already been discussed, but in case it hasn't I'll go ahead and ask it: In the movie Anakin says that he is already powerful enough to overthrow Palpatine when he is talking to Padme on Muustafar, also in the RotS book Mace says that Skywalker is arguably the most powerful jedi alive, before he even turns evil. So that must mean that at some point before the duel Anakin was in fact streonger than Yoda and Palpatine... Right?

The thing about Anakin is he actually became a great fighter when he was in the suit he could no longer rely on is abilities he had to use his mind in a scene from ESB he just outsmarts Luke using the force as his weapon. However even before he had the suit he wasn't the best he was extremely arrogant and that was the reason he lost to Obi-Wan in ROTS.
