why did when cs 2 come out 1 stopped working?

Everyone who has played Source says that.

CS is runned by individual servers, so technically the old CS could be still played 15 years from now if somebody still runs it on there computer.

It dont matter if Valve doesnt support it either.
And, Half Life is still the most popular game on Gamespy. So this guy/ girl version is outdated, or that its all screwed up.
