Which member of this classic rock band had to under go hip surgery before the band could move forward with their reunion and promotion?

That's two questions though. What are we trying to work out, the member or the band?

I'm only asking for people to name the band member. This shouldn't be too hard for those who have been watching all these specials on metal bands that had been airing recently on Vh1. In other words, just figure out the name then naming the band he's from should fall into place.
