Yeah that would take away from alot of characters if they could fly. Like it would actually make the character less interesting or just too similar to other characters. Imagine batman could fly. Like he wouldn't glide with his cap, he wouldn't need his grappling hook thing, it would also take away from his sneaky progress (as in it would make it less impressive if he just float to thew ceiling or something.

I've always thought the same about the Watchtower teleport technology, alien tech etc but they put that in. I mean Batman can now teleport anywhere anytime and has access to a motherbox? It does kind of take away from the Dark Knight image.

Robin: "Hey Batman. Why don't we all build flight rings like those Legion guys were wearing?"
Black Canary: "Yes. Imagine the extra lives we could save - including our own the the next time we fall off a building during a fight or our team aircraft gets shot down."
Batman: "No. It would not look cool like running and jumping across rooftops. It would reduce your interest as a street level character. Robin - what would you ever need that grappling hook I gave you for if you had a flight ring? We just wouldn't be as impressive. It isn't all about saving lives or common sense. I'm sorry."
Robin: "OK. Come on Canary let's teleport back down to earth from our super high-tech Watchtower on the moon."

As for being 31st century tech... I think that having seen them in action on the legionaires they could come up with something similar by making use of their vault of Kryptonian, New God, Martian, alien tech etc. They've managed stuff far more complex than flight rings.

But yeah, I guess looking cool and character interest has to come before common sense or saving lives within the confines of the story.

the timeline has to be considered. plus, what if a villain got their hands on 31st century tech? they'd be right f*cked then...

if Colossus(X-men) was injured while he's still fleshy, will transforming stop the bleeding or will he bleed liquid metal?

It seems like the metal should 'fill in the gap' (so to speak) of the wound, effectively stopping the bleeding.

Don't know if that's how it actually works, though.

Typically speaking, Pre-Crisis DC characters have more WTF feats than their Post Crisis counterparts, and are usually seen as more powerful/capable. Are there are any characters who have actually been portrayed as more powerful Post Crisis than Pre-Crisis?

Well I do remember one story arc where Metropolis was using technology taken from Brainiac 13, but since it was from the future it created a temporal anomaly and was threatening to destroy the city so they had to get rid of it.

any proof, or is this supposition?

actually more on the Colossus thing......umm lets say he's mortally wounded and he transforms then (assuming hes ok in his metal form) would the wound heal under the metal? or would it stay put until after he goes back to normal?

Wonder Woman maybe?

Flash comes to mind as well, he's at least as good now as he was Pre Crisis and I can't think of anything Pre Crisis that matches him saving half a million people by carrying them one at a time to a hill three miles away within the space of a micro-second.

During WWH vs. X-Men arc.

Hulk bend Colossus forearms out of place, the team advise Pete not to transform back, in case of permanent damage. So they fix him up in metallic form.

he also got majorly f'd up by pyro and a tanker full of liquid nitrogene. he had to stay in metal form as the morlocke named healer fixed him with his powers.

aquaman's characterisation was massively improved, though, too.

and he's not THAT much like a kryptonian.
