Ah yes, the Fire Hydrant. I took that picture earlier when I was testing out my camera at night. I was wanting to get a good picture of the long shadow it created, but there was not enough true lighting to properly display it. Plus the flash will just kill the shadow anyways.

Now about the mountain pictures...where I live if you look in any given direction there are mountains. We are in the Valley of Fire, about 30 miles away from civilization.

I just like the desert, but most people think that a desert is baren and a wasteland.

I have always pictured it as primarily baron, with a few cacti but with oasis's with lush grass land areas next to them
