Scientists Recover T. Rex Soft Tissue

Yeah, but how you described it, "the DNA segment that codes for Bone tissue, starts growing in your brain" makes it sound like you're going to start growing bones in your brain 😛 I can't remember the specifics cancer itself, except for leukemia, which is when you have too many white blood cells.

Really? I allways thought Leukemia was the opposite...
Or was that HIV...
so confused..

HIV is a virus that does something to antibodies (denatures them or something, I can't remember) so they can't destroy it. It also mutates incredibly fast (adaptation anyone?). Leukemia is a cancer caused by out-of-control white blood cell growth, if I remember correctly it means "white blood" or something like that in Greek.

C'mon, I was in bio a year ago, you should remember this better than me 😛

weelll.....
I dunno...

heh

Interestingly enough, I hadn't even thought of cloning when starting this thread. In fact, I was awaiting for someone to say what this means for the Creationism vs. Evolution debate.

*takes a bow*

Honestly, evolution was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the thread title.

very intresting article and photos. im like a very big fan of dinasours and like old species and things liek that... but cloning something would be very dangerous. Look at what happened at jurassic park

I never mentioned cloning though, so why did you quote my post?

And yes, there's already evidence, but many people don't believe it still, and DNA sequences to back it up would make it pretty much incontravertable. Like Tpt said, you want proof of evolution? Here it is.

I didn't realize I had quoted you,sorry.

I posted this same topic in the philospjy forum!Awesome!

No offense Lana.. but why do you need proof of evolution? If its something you believe in then ok..but it should be a personal belief system IMO so no futher proof wopuld be needed for you

But you see Bilb, Its not a perfect system. Its constantly being updating and re-tooled, evolving the evolution theroy if you will. So proof would have multipel effects, it would fix gaps, and help tweak the system accordingly

Umm, well first off, Bilb, the way you called it a personal belief system makes it sound like you're referring to it as a religion, which pisses me off, because it is NOT a religion. Not by any long shot.

Why would I be happy if more proof of evolution is found? I'm not the kind of person who believes something blindly, I make my decisions on what I find to be true based on evidence and research. There's enough evidence already for me to believe evolution is true, but it is still only a theory and there are still gaps in our knowledge of it. Such evidence, such as DNA that links dinosaurs and birds (which this T-Rex tissues could provide) would go a long ways in filling in gaps in what we know. Science is ever-changing, and the more evidence we have, the better.

(btw, don't take the first paragraph to mean that I'm pissed at you, I just really hate when people try to pass off evolution as a religion.)

Except for your own..😆😆😆

can't stop talking about me even when you are in a different thread huh?

Whob, back off.

She wasn't talking about you. Tp was. She replied.

No need to escalate.

Very good news for evolution, as stated. 😄

Actually, this lends credence to the Creationist point of view. After all, should millions of years have passed since the dinosaur was fossilized, all the soft tissue should have dissolved. With a much shorter span of time--such as, oh, say, 6,000 years--the likelihood of discovering soft tissue is much more likely.

mmm berryburger....

But DR, I DO that adding reptile DNA would work, You could, theoroeticly, create and Ape from Human DNA, if you had the technology to contol which genes were being expressed, becuase Human DNA, isn't that different, from anything really, its just how and what parts of the really long DNA strand is being expressed, its how cancer works, the DNA gets screwed up and somehow, the DNA segment that codes for Bone tissue, starts growing in your brain.

I guess you could go in and alter the genetic structure of a human to have reptile DNA in it, but it would still be nearly impossible. I thought people were meaning you could cross a dinosaur and a human, but I think even if you physically spliced the two DNA strands together it wouldn't work... You might get something to grow out of it, but I doubt it would live long. While human and dino DNA aren't that different, that doesn't mean you could cross them with any ease—we're 56% genetically identical to bananas, but that would be sorta like the dogberry/berryburger scenario 😉

In other words, two organisms have to have nearly identical DNA to be able to reproduce. I imagine dinosaurs and humans have very similar genetic material, but it's still not close enough.

.....there's no good way to splice the words human and banana....🙁

I think people DID mean to cross a human and dinosaur. Which obviously wouldn't work.

Hmmm. Humosaur. Doesn't really have a ring to it.
