Annie and Palps

What do you think Palpatine would have done had Dooku won that duel and had two sabers ready to scissor off Anakin's head? Would Palpatine leave him there to get killed or stop Dooku because he knows Anakin is more powerful and that he would one day help seal the fate of the republic. I think Palpatine would have used the force to get out of the restraints and then killed Dooku before he got anywhere. Anakin would obviously be confused but Palps would then explain his powers after killing unconsious Obi-Wan. What do you think?

Nope, If Anakin couldnt Kill Dooku he wouldnt of been powerful enough to become Sidious's new Apprentice, The Fight againts Dooku was just a Test and he passed. Thats why Sidious pulled that shocked face after Dooku took out Obiwan so fast, he was hoping Anakin would win.

Still he lost to Anakin, but he did cut off his arm in AOTC so I could see why Ani would be pissed. 😛

That scene in the book is much better explained. If Dooku won, as he was supposed to, he would have thrown the fight letting Anakin capture him. The point of that being, to kill obi wan and stroke his ego even more as the jedi who captured a sith lord.
As it stood it was not necesary, anakin really did win but instead of capture dooku, he was coaxed into killing him (which IMO, would have happened either way.)
This was not really a test of anakins abilities, Sidious had made his mind up already wanting him, but IMO was unsure if he was strong enough YET to beat dooku. To ensure he would win either way ensured his apprenticship to palps. Palps knew anakins power and also knew how much stronger he would become.

Yes they would have killed him cause he would not have been worthy. If you read Labryinth of Evil book you will see sidious and dooku discussing the setup. that fight was a test and he passed at dooku's expense. Sorry to bring up literature people don't hate

There was no question in Palpatine's mind. He knew Anakin would kill Dooku.

yes, it was a test as it always is for the sith. if the master wants a new apprentice he makes his current apprentice fight the new (possible) one and whoever wins is the apprentice. (the end fight in ROTJ as well as Dooku vs. Anakin II)

if the apprentice wants to be the master he kills the master, if he is not capable of it alone, he finds a possible apprentice and they both kill the master. (ie. Vader and Luke)

although im pretty sure Palps knew anakin would win...
