No idea.

I just use "arsehole" anyway, it's just convenient it is a censor bypass.

Shine ya shoos Govna'!?

I think it's really funny how in America the word "c*nt" is considered to be the worst, most offensive word in the world yet here in Scotland it can be used as a term of great affection. i.e. "Alright c*nty? How's it goin?"

A sod is a clump of soil that is quite hard. Its the kind of soil you would pick up as a kid and have fights with, and it would usually explode or crumble when it hit something. That's what a sod actually IS.

When someone says "stupid sod", it means "idiot". I dunno why.

"Bloody" is just a polite way of saying "f*cking". Even more rediculously tame is "Bloomin' heck" which I personally HATE when people say it.

"Bollocks" is a cool word. It's comical in how you can emphasise it. When someones talking crap, you can just say "Bollocks". Simple.

A "f@g" over here is slang for a cigarrette. Kind of adds some innuendo to the phrase "I'm smoking a f@g" when you consider how common the American definition for f@g is now. It's wierd that I have to use a censor bypass to type the damn thing, becuase I keep thinking "why is a cigarrette offensive?"

Everything "sucks" I noticed, according to Americans. That sucks, this sucks. Even I say it now, which sucks 😉

Then there's "ass" - which is just bizarre. We say arse. An ass is a donkey. Yet it refers to the buttock-populated area of the body. Interesting, if totally confusing. And is our "arse" simply a way of poshing-up the American way of saying it?

Also, a child in America can shout "I hurt my fanny", but if a kid over here says it (usually not a boy 😉 ) they get a 'clip round the ear' (there's another one of our lovely phrases to make child abuse sound friendly).

Then there's "pecker" and johnson". I've read all the history books I can and I still don't know who these 2 are. 😂

And we spell everything right. So there.

"johnson" is more likely in reference to "Johnny 'the one' Holmes" a porn star from the 70's who had an unusually large pecker....😛

and "pecker"...i would've thought that was obvious 🤨 - if you take the 'er' you get "peck" which can either mean a kiss or a quick, sharp stroke: of a beak as in a bird, or your johnson take your pick

as for "A$$", blame that on us americans for not wanting to sound british i guess 😬

when i first encountered the word "arse" i wouldn't have known the meaning, except within the context it was used. "bollocks" maybe is used like we use "bullshit". is that a fair comparison? the word "***"i haven't heard in years, but am familiar with both connotations. instead of saying "a clip round the ear, we say "a slap upside yo head" "bloody is the most common expletive attributed to the British, but Ive never heard an American use it. I agree that the word "sucks" really, really sucks. and yes, you do spell it right, but only on the east side of the pond!!!!
