Revan, Malak, Bastila, Carth, Mission all existed (in case you don't know, click their names for links to their info. at the official Star Wars site, and plus the New Essential Chronology lists the events, and the people as canon), everyone from the KOTOR games existed canonically. The gameplay isn't canon, i.e. how many Dark Jedi you fight, how you fight, what powers you choose, etc.; but everything else is basically.

Change what timeline? There was nothing filled in at that spot, nothing happened that the KOTOR series replaced. It was basically a new addition like the Legacy of the Force series, Dark Nest, and so on were to the EU.

How about the fact that the technique was derived from the ancient sith and Ragnos' scepter possesses the exact same thing and more.

I wouldn't say that Ragnos' sceptre contains the ability. Ragnos' sceptre drained force energy from planets. Nihilus was essentially a black hole in the force; devouring it.

His technique was described as a force drain though swirly, and it had the same components as Ragnos' scepter, except Ragnos' scepter empowered no force sensitives with the dark side of the force.

in kotor 2 when the screen is loading for that level you will know that the 3 sith lords, kreia sion and nihilus learnt it from that academy

and even if it was similar to the scepter, nihilus is a hole in the force and remember what happened when he tried to suck the exile?

Actually the technique was derived from the ancient sith as specifically stated by Kreia, not to mention Malachor V was a storehouse of knowledge from the ancient sith, not to mention the scepter had the same abilities and more.
