anywho, i too am a spidey fan AND a thing fan. but, i'd love it if someone could tell me a time spidey actually took out a heavy hitter like the thing on his own. (and i'm not counting the firelord battle) glancing back through my books as i reorganized them, i actually LOOKED for times spidey took down some big hitter. honestly, i could not find a good one. abomination crushed him (she hulk had to save his ass), hulk has beaten him badly several times, juggs (aside from the time he tricked juggs by having him walk into that building foundation) barely NOTICES spidey. so, spidey fans out there, you want to make me (and other doubters out there) believe he can win this fight, show me a scan or tell me an issue where spidey took someone on the thing's level (near cl100) down one on one. i'm not being anti-spidey, i'm genuinely curious. i'd have SWORN he's done so, but i seriously could not find a book where he actually did. (rhino is NOT at thing's level, and don't count morlun - though that was one of my all-time fave fights, eziekiel saved him once, and spidey ended up having what amounted to loads of prep time.)
so, anybody out there show me anything?

Spidey doesnt take down guys that level with his fists.Its just not possible [Like Wolverine/Batman beating spidey himself].The best he can do is incapcitate Thing with half a ton of webbing otherwise a prolonged battle ends with a shockwave or something spidey is jumping to gets broken and hes grounded for the second Thing needs
Thing should win 6/10 posiblly 7/10

scans I have not, in Venomous, he took out a stronger venom with the strength of around thing.
Rhino, though he's dumb did so, he has a plan against exploting hulk, not sure if titania counts.
He beat a third rate hulk, Digger, I believe was his name, its in the tangled web or awesome spiderman.
He's confused the FF, (not defeat), the Xmen.
I'm not saying this is a win, but I think he can beat him but only with webbing, spiderman can avoid thing very well, and has the initiative here. I disagree with your statement, spiderman has taken on heavy hitters several times in his career, and multiple heroes at once.
I feel its close, but spiderman can't get in, he's faced worse in the experienced version of himself. Give him a break, spiderman has gotten it handed to him many times, and he flies solo, its not like thing hasn't been downed, he's great, but maybe given too much credit.

i agree jinzin. unless his strategy aginst hulk is get squashed like a bug, there's not much strategy. hulk has beaten spidey BADLY (ie - could have killed him!) on at least 3 occasions. avnd venom was cl100?? find that hard to believe but he would still have a weakness to sonics. thing HAS no weakness. the ff has been explained, he did nothing or consequence against the xmen either. and you're right jinzin - rhino is no where near bengy, and routinely gets his ass handed to him by everyone.
i'd forgotten about titania, however. that IS legitimate. wasn't she actually TERRIFIED of him?? but she did end up getting her revenge though if i'm not mistaken after creel finally got her to fight him again.

True, I already explained that spiderman doesn't beat up heavy hitters, he outsmarts them, a difficult battle, but can be won, I don't see where the extra credit is given.
I did mention digger another heavy hitter, and I've been over Jinzin how the new venom was vastly improved with strength, and spiderman didn't use sonics, he went bloodlust after he'd killed an innocent. I don't think spiderman will BEAT UP, the thing, just outsmart and outmanever him. His only chance is webbing, I've already mentioned this. 😮💨

hmm, maybe that true in some cases. then again, could be because spidey has been hit at least twice by hulk shockwaves and never had any warning. and i agree cordera - spidey could win, but as i said he would have to be very clever to do so. even bloodlust/berserker spidey could do nothing to ben - has been demonstrated by his efforts against hulk and morlun. it would take trickery and intelligence to win this. problem is, ben is also very smart and equally experienced.
that's why i say ben beats him 8/10. maybe 7/10 is a better guess.

Agreed, spiderman isn't the one about striking, but then again when he does cut loose, he leaves opponents in awe.
Spidermans villians are usually alive, because he let them live, most of the time.

ummm you've explained how venom's stronger using a feat that could be PIS for all we know...what makes that feat any more valid than any of the one's I've ever used? NOTHING THAT'S WHAT! in any case what was that feat again? oh yes..venom chucking a mail truck at spiderman....guess you missed the comic in which classic venom picked up a van, slung it with one arm and sent it flying half a damn football field eh?
the newer venom was stated as being bigger than classic venom....not stronger.... even if he IS stronger...it's not by much, as spiderman went toe to toe with new venom and was clobbering him....something he NEVER could do against eddie...

you didn't "go over it" you just said that he could without further explaination.....nothing more...that hardly certifies that you went over it...
thunderclap's really the only argument thing really needs here..unless spiderman's wearing heavy duty earplugs....i don't need to make another....
