Sonic is too fast for Mario or Luigi to hit so his Sonic's speed gives him a huge edge.
We all know how strong Knuckles is so Mario and Luigi would be stupid to attack him head on.

Mario and Luigi will kick their asses. Mario would jump on Knuckle's head and kill him. Luigi would whip out a fire flower and toast Sonic's ass. Too may ways for the Bros to win.
