I'm 19 and I don't really know how to cook. Yes I've had a few experiencdes few times and I can read instructions, but I really have no experience. My mom never took the time to teach me. I would ask and ask. And even when we would go over my aunts house and she can't walk and she would ask me to do things with the stove and help cook, my mom would tell me not to touch the stove. I wanted to though. In the past years, my sister reached the age i was at the time when my mom wouldn't let me touch a stove and she would go over our aunts house and help cook and my mom lets her. So she has more experience with me, which I'm pissed about cause it's not fair. And now that I'm in college, it's definitely not a swell time to start, cause there's really no where to do it.
But next year when I get a better dorm, it's an actual apartment type dorm with it's own kitchen and stove and stuff, i'll definitely be getting more experience.
But yeah, if you think it won't endanger my life to know now, tell me.

yeah, I'm pretty sure U cant kill urself doing this. I think. Hey once U can light the stove and can smell is something is burning, You pretty ok. Afterall I thought my little brother to cook and he hasn't burnt down the house yet, nor his gf's nor his other friends.
OK Basic Ham Omlette(well this is how i make them)
1. Take 2 eggs( NOT the shells) and mix them well with about 5 tablespoons of milk. Add a pinch of salt( thats about a 1/4 of a teaspoon) and any other seasonings u like, like a pinch of black pepper.
2. Now using a grater, grater about enough cheese( cheddar) to get a handfull( i like lots of cheese in mine, but u can put less if u like). Put aside
3. Cut small piece of ham into one inch strips. Take a small onion and cut it as fine as you can.
U can cut up anything else u like to add to it, like tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, other meats( sausage, chicken, salami, all must be cooked already and cut about the size as the ham)
In a skillet now( its the flat pan with a handle) spray it with some non stick spray and put the heat on its LOWEST setting.
Pour in the egg mixture first, making sure it covers the entire bottom of the pan, then evenly distribute the cheese on top of the egg and repeat with the onion and meats/ham.
Cover the skillet for about 3-5 mins, you'll smell it when its ready, if not, take of the cover and if the egg had turned all puffy, its nearly ready, WIth a gentle flicking motion, try to lossen the omlette from the pan( just LIKE how its done with pancakes), Take a spacula and fold fold one half of the omlette onto the other side. Take of the Stove and let it rest for bout 2 mins
And its ready to eat.
In all it takes about 10-15 mins prepare and make.

Yes the ham must be cooked,u can get them from those delis I think( we dont have delis here so not sure). Ham takes a long time to cook on its own.
And it wont burn cause everything above the eggs will basically steam, so all the juices combine to give that great flavour. That why I said to cut the meats thin and an Inch in length, MAX, so as to give them enough time to steam and to release juices.
Essentially Its like a pizza, THe egg is the base and the rest are the toppings. SO like Pizza its the base that needs the most cooking. Which is why we put in the egg first.
