consistency does matter. consistency is what defines the average level of a character. its the quality of said average that determines whether they can beat character x.

i did say several instances were needed, as you have to establish a baseline.

the quality issue i was discussing was the fact that people like to use the excuse that a character having more appearances gives them an unfair advantage.

I personally believe they need to come from other story arcs as well. Like DS for instances in a single mini had almost deadpoolish healing factor, however out side that one arc he not even close to that (This has been true of many character including beast)

beast has over 2400 appearances

my point about less popular characters would really only affect those with like, a couple hundred or less... where it could be argued that there has never been a solid "average" or "powerset" established. Beast has well more than enough appearances to say what is normal and what is PIS.
