not really. pop-punk really has nothing to do with real punk. it is just looked at that way because it has the word POP in front of it and everyone knows that pop music sucks. pop-punk isn't really pop OR punk. it is a category all of its own.

it is based upon punk styles... just like Hardcore is based on punk styles.
