they mostly work off the same principle of masking the desired object with a scene that takes place behind the object, however the USA cloak seems to be aimed at stopping light from playing upon the surface of the object they wish to cloak

It's just a tad more complex tha that, isnt it? I mean, bending light doesnt seem like a feat that could be acomplished by just tricking the mind.

tricking the eye is quite simple on the other hand.. thats why we got silly magicians making money.. and look at primitive camouflage.. all they do is paint green, brown and black all over them and they vanish to the eye
in complex, plant life infested jungles

I had heard that they have been working on this for vehicles for ages...
