Adam is powerful, but his durability is a big question mark. He's been put down by the likes of Spider-Man. Classic Magneto loses badly, but new Magneto wins 6/10. If Doom could get a knockout on Warlock, then Magneto can DEFINITELY do it. Of course, of Warlock goes for the soul suck right away (which he never does), he wins every time.
demi....c'mon now.
Warlock's durability is immense, he's taken hits from Galactus with no shield, taken super novas with no effect, been punched by people with power gem with no effect.
His durability is as good as superman's, if not better.
Magneto has no chance, ever. Warlock is his superior in everything.
Warlock 10/10
Would Magneto survive this?
Could Magneto punk Mephisto?
Nope...
Adam is an enigma... His power wanes because of the vampiric tendencies of the soul gem. Adams base powers are greatly diminished because the soul gem keeps sucking the juice out of him. But the soul gem has it's own special powers it endows Adam with.
Adam Warlock possesses a green soul-gem which adheres to his forehead. Originally part of the being which gave birth to the omniverse, the soul-gem is one of six of its kind. The soul-gem appeared to possess a consciousness of sorts. Warlock's soul-gem is the only one of the six known to have "vampiric" tendencies.Karmic Blast: This power can be used to 'disrupt one's anima center',inflicting massive damage to both a persons mind and spirit. Few entities have ever withstood this attack, Thor managed to only due to his "Asgardian Royal Spirit". Normally this is limited to a line of sight attack, though if the bearer of the gem is experienced enough, or the gem desires it, then it is presumed the attack could cover any distance within this reality's sphere.
Soul Detection: The Soul Gem can be used to sense other sentient beings in order to A) track someone known to the wielder, or B) determine the presence of other people via the presence of the soul within them (including astral bodies).
Soul World: The Soul Gem itself contains a pocket dimension. This reality can be used to store as many souls as the wielder likes, for an indefinite period of time. Adam Warlock has proved to be the "Master" of this dimension, even when he is not in possession of the gem. He is without peer, and shapes his powers to his whim while within the world. He has only been defeated once, by a creature named Rune, and that was when the gem betrayed him to aid Rune.
Soul Absorption: The Soul Gem can be used to literally absorb the soul of another, storing it in Soul World. While so holding a soul, the holder of the soul gem will gain all of the knowledge of that being, and be able to use it directly after absorbing. The act of stealing a soul is extremely quick, in truth it does not even take "time", as shown when Warlock stole the soul of Rune and brought him into Soul World, even after time was frozen.
De-evolution: The Soul Gem is able to de-evolve things into earlier states, this includes living and non-living material. Warlock used it on bullets once, to de-evolve them into their seperate molecules, and thus become a danger no longer. He has also used it on the Man-Beast, turning him back into a wolf with a single blast of the gem.
Linguistics: Using the soul gem, the wielder can understand the spoken languages of others, and communicate with others in their own tongues as well. This is not limited in any means, as it connects the two beings through means of their souls.
Truth Revealing: The Soul Gem is able to reveal "truth" in things. When a being named Abyss sent "shadows" to attack Warlock, he used the Soul Gem's truth revealing ability to show them as beings without souls, thus causing them to cease their existance. He can also use this on beings to force the truth from them.
Shields: The Soul Gem is able to produce both kinetic and de-evolutionary fields. Presumably it could generate energy fields as well, but this has not been demonstrated.
Prevention: The Soul Gem has only displayed this ability once - apparently it relates to preventing a natural occurance while in the beam of the soul gem. Its listed use was preventing a fire from spreading by not allowing natural oxidation. Extents and uses are completely unknown.
He also possesses his Karmic Staff:
Warlock can form a Karma Staff using the soul gem. This is a projection of his soul, and is possessed of many abilities. One of which is redirecting energy of seemingly any origin. He has proved capable of redirecting two seperate blasts to two seperate targets, at the same time. Quasar hypothesized that Warlock channeled his energy through the staff, and it is clear Warlock's energy projection abilities increase once the staff is formed. As yet, nothing has proved capable of breaking the staff (as it is an extension of his will power and spirit). Warlock is able to form/unform the staff at will, so if it was taken from him he could simply teleport it back to his hand - and has done so against Thor. One of the greatest feats achieved through the Karma Staff was when Warlock channeled enough energy to actually wrap a being in the destructive power.
These are powers that he has, but aren't classified into a bio, and is only seen in his comics:
Unclassified Abilities:Warlock has been identified as a 'True Warlock' - that is, being one with the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. What this means, or the abilities he gains from it - are completely unknown. However, the Star Thief acknowleged this facet of Warlock's being as being true.
It has been confirmed that Warlock possesses some mystical potential - the ability to cast spells. Why he does not do this is not known, but he has access to all spells Dr. Strange knew at the time of the Infinity Gauntlet.
Warlock used to require air to survive. He could drown or suffocate - this later changed for no apparent reason. Now Warlock can survive indefinetly without food, air, or water.
He is able to dodge with amazing ability. Without warning he was capable of dodging lasers while underwater.
Warlock Wins...
Warlock has always been ownage.
He's in my top five as well.
I mean seriously.......He's standing eye to eye with Galactus, and Galactus says "Galactus does not heed the words of insects, even gold ones" and Adam says: "Then Galactus is a fool" right to his face!
arghhhhh -explodes from all the ownage-
Bad+ass=Warlock
-edit-
Heh, didn't see that pic of what I quoted at the top, it didn't load the first time. I was close!
Mags and Strange fought to a draw. Mags reasoned that mystical power is simply unstudied science but ultimately still yielded to the same basic principles as everything else. It actually worked.
Warlock seems to have uneven showings. The pics you posted are impressive, and difficult to reconcile with his low showings against Doom, Spider-Man and others. At his best, he takes this. But the Warlock I've seen loses.
It was an issue of Defenders when they first encountered each other. Somewhere in the teens. Their second battle I read in an I, Magneto reprint. That was where he talked about his analysis of magic still being based on physical laws, though being unknown.
Warlock having a close battle with Kang is also something that leads me to believe that he's inconsistent. Kang was recently beaten by the Young Avengers, who only two issues ago were beaten by street thugs. Kang was also beaten by Captain America.
My analysis - Warlock at his best owns Magneto. But I rarely see that Warlock, and thus won't give Warlock more than 6/10 against him. Certainly not 10/10.
