exactly, although when it comes down to specifics lots IS opinion, but when dealing with extreems there is no opinion.
Tool being better than backstreet Boys is a fact.
I agree with you,but that's a very shallow way to look at it.Case in point Motown. Now in no way am I saying the Backstreet boys are on par with the temptations or other motown bands, but their is a pattern followed with popular music. While I personaly don't like the Backstreet boys,I read enough magazines (bass player,Mix,remix, etc) to know that some of the best damn musicians in the world play the music behind those vocals. The same was with Motown.Anyone could sing the song, they just needed people with an image. The music, however, was a different case. While some of these musicians just loop their stuff and even sample it,but it's starting to come back to live playing.I saw some footage from a Brittany Spears concert and couldn't belive how awesome the musicans where.I mean the timing was dead on.I later read an interview with Brittany Spears bass player and he talked about all the precautions he takes to get the exact studio sound in a live event.I can't give all rock bass players the same credit I can give him.The same can be said for other musicians as well.
