Really, again i'm the completely opposite here Parker, lol. I thought Robin was freakin pathetic, one of the worst movies ever made, and thats no exaggeration either. Returns was at least darker and less campier, although I too feel that the Penguin was kinda wasted. Catwoman and Batman were terrific though I felt.
I dunno, matter of opinion.

Thats why I thought Returns was even more horrible than Batman and Robin because B& R at least didnt try and be serious and was awful at the same time where Returns DID try and be serious and was horribly written.Well we at least agree about The Penguin.Get rid of Danny Devitos horrible acting performance and stupid Penguin in Returns and I might feel differently.Well no I wont because that idiot Burton once again had Batman killing people in cowardly ways like putting the bomb in the pants of that goon of The Penguins, that is just so Un Batman. 😠
Parker > Yeah im starting to see what you mean now, Batman's philosophy was never to kill his opponents, yet he seemed to do so in Burton's two flicks.
However to Burtons credit, I think he made Gotham City appear exactly as it should have been, dark and menacing. Batman himself was a tortured soul and a bit of a loner, unlike the Clooney batman who was just a charismatic tosh.
After recently watching Forever after a few years, I'd have to say that if anything it seemed refreshing. It was aimed to be a summer popcorn movie and it certainly accomplished that. Good action with lots of special effects. Storywise it's not the best, but it's not the worst neither. And there are some serious scenes within Forever, such as every scene involving the red book, or Bruce's interaction with the newly orphaned Robin. And seeing Carrey's Nygma transform from a dedicated and enthusiastic employee of Bruce's to his alter-ego was done very good as well. The movie could have toned down some of the neon, but there was still some great looking scenery around if you looked for it, such as Meridian's office, the batcave, Nygma's apartment, and two-face headquarter. About the only thing that didn't work all around was Jones's Two-Face. Everybody is right when they said it was too over-the-top. IMHO about the only time we see a true glimpse of Two-Face is at the end before he dies, when Batman asks him about flipping his coin and Two-Face quietly says something like "Why yes of course bruce, emotion is the enemy of justice, you've been a good friend" or something like that.
The first batman was the best. More because i hated the others one more.
Batman Returns - Even though I liked 2 the penguin was, a fat nasty slob. In the comics he was the cool guy with the umbrella and tux. I didn think cat woman was good though.
Batman Forever - To much neon. It was way to corny, with the way all the goons were waring corny outfits. It wqas just lame.
Batman and Robin - I can't remember this one but its the same as Forever.
Batman - yes batman killed the Joker in the end despite that it seemed to be a good movie.
My main gripe with the Schumacher and Burton films is how they didn't stay true to the characters as they are portrayed in the comic books. Their personality, appearance, origins, everything was out of whack here. Burton got the Penguin very, very wrong, although i thought that Devito was very good, if you imagine him in the role of the suave kind of Penguin then i think he could of pulled that off. Also, why the hell was Harvey Dent black? The main problem was the costumes and set design though (except not in the Burton movies, which were very good), they put you off immediately without listening or watching to one minute of the Schumacher films. Nipples and butt-shot? Neon Lights everywhere, huge staues of naked men?? Joel Schumachers gay fantasy, if you ask me. 😄 Also the sonar suit and that kinda gimmicky, 'let's bring out another crappy figure with special features!' costume and batmobile design sucked. Pffffft, i'm gunna go and lie down!
> Systemshock, I agree with you on most counts, there were definately elements in the movie which were properly done, which gives it a heads up of the awful Batman and Robin. However because Two-Face pops up virtually everywhere in the movie, its very hard to sit down and take it seriously because every ten minutes it gets ruined by more campy moments.
As for Shumacher's gay fantasies.. well the images he threw on pretty much speak for themselves. Nasty stuff.
