The Current State of KMC: Your Thoughts?

I haven't seen too big a difference in the quality of KMC.

There are a lot of stupid threads in the OTF but it has always has been the toilet of KMC. I enjoy some of the random conversation that couldn't happen in any other place on KMC other than the OTF. The only thing that annoys me about the OTF is the attention threads and whores, but when the OTF gets filled with them, I just avoid the place until it gets better and it usually does.

I would like to see the Movie Review forum back up. I understand Cin's logic for getting rid of it, but I really enjoyed reading and writing up reviews in it and I'm not clear if it's okay to write up reviews in the Movie Discussion Forum.

The Music Discussion Forum has been getting hit by a lot of repetitive and boring threads lately, which is mostly done by new members who don't read the rules or use the search button. It's not too big of an inconvenience as Deathblow does a good job of cleaning up the repititive thread but it does get somewhat annoying when you see the 1,000,000 Green Day threads. Other than that, the Music Forum is excellent with lots of members with diverse and excellent music tastes that have opened me up to some great artists this past year.

The Sports Forum is still great with intelligent members who actually want to talk sports and not "OMFG mY TEam Kicks YOUR Team's ASS!!!" smack talk.

Overall, I've enjoyed KMC and don't see the need for much change(other than a porn forum but that's only in my dreams). 😉

I have been just as guilty of making pointless threads and posts...I tended to get caught up in the whole menagerie of the OTF...but lately, I've been decidedly ANTI OTF. It's just getting ridiculous. There is funny...and then there is just...space wasting. It's been the latter lately, with poop threads, and shaving ass threads, and general garbage. I've been told to get a sense of humour, but, I HAVE one, and along with a lot of other members I've talked to, this stuff ISN'T funny - in the least. So, we have to either sift through this junk, ignore it, or live with it. Unfortunately, since there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer, ignoring it, completely, seems to be the only viable option. Which is sad, because a lot of really good, decent people will be shutting off either the OTF or KMC in general.

How are we treating the GDF, now? It's all politcal threads or all religious threads, or a hybrid of the both. Wouldn't the religous thread go to the Religion forums? Also, regardless of how the "Politics" forum operated in the past, why not try it again?

I totally agree with this part, I love the OTF because it is exactly what it's supposed to be, somewhere for all the random posters to go when they cannot be bothered to make any sense, or discuss something worthwhile... can you imagine what would happen if it was sacked? If you really believe that all the 'idiots' would simply leave then you're sadly mistaken, they would overtake other, more serious forums and the only way to stop it would be to ban half the population of KMC, which is utterly ridiculous 🙄

I personally think that more warnings to misbehaving members should be dished out, mods should not be hesitant to make this forum seem strict if needs be, that is what they are here for, mostly...

My thoughts on KMC would be that it is great 🙂 Though i agree with Dr. Strangelove alot of the new members are not bothering reading the rules and not serching first if their is already a topic on whatever that is.

The KMC senate is corrupted but apart from that its all around good!!

I haven't been on here for long enough to be able to state what the KMC forums USED to be like....actually, i'm most likely still considered a newb, but hey, that's how things go right?
Anyway.....my current suggestions on improving the quality and at the same time the infrastructure of KMC, would be:

1. Merge the SW forums into just one, with SW: literature and EU as a sub-forum

2. Merge "General Fiction Area" with "Prose and Poetry" I mean.....it just seems like a double forum to me 😬

3. i have a problem with the RP forums. The problem is, there are:

- Role Playing Forum
- Unhosted Role Plays
- Star Wars: Role Playing

I see ABSOLUTELY no reason for SW Roleplaying to be a separate forum in itself. My suggestion is turning it into a sub-forum INSIDE "Role Playing Forum", and renaming "Role Playing Forum" to "Hosted Role Playing Forum"

4. A History forum sounds interesting to me, but that's because i love history. I'm not sure how or where that would fit in though......but i'd like for this addition to be made.

5. I'd like for another addition to be made: A "Commercials" forum, where people can discuss the making of commercials, actors involved in them, even the music used for them. I'm pretty sure it would have enough patrons, even though it might start off slow.....i mean....it can't have less than the religion forum anyway right? 😬

Anyway, those are my suggestions, but feel free to ignore them, because as a very "enlightened" mind said earlier in the thread:

There isn't a chance in hell of SW being sub-forumed; it is traditional (being the origin of the whole thing)and its size justifies its existence.

No, no 'technically' reason for that at all, given its size and popularity and purpose it fits right into the definition of a front page forum.

And given its function as an RP forum for a SPECIFIC campaign setting, it belongs as a subsidiary of the General RP forum ........this is all semantics though, i'm aware that you're the big boss there and can fully understand it if you're biased. It was just a suggestion.

I love the general discussion section because there are a lot more mature discussions and more serious threads there to discuss such as some of the threads Deano makes.He makes a lot of interesting and very intelligent threads.However the Off Topic section is getting increasing annoying to venture into with childish threads such as Wildest Sexual Fantasy.A thread in my opinion that should have been closed a Lonnnnnggggg time ago.I have talked with other posters as well who are tired of seeing threads like that there.

To be honest "The Wildest Sexual Fantasy" Thread is one of the better in this damned forum....but the GDF is much better I agree....I wish the Religion Forum would still rock 🙁

I'm tired of those kinds of threads on here. Really don't think they should be on kmc, and if you think about all kinds of ages are on kmc.

So keep that in mind.

For the record, I am sure all of these unsavoury threads are being monitored closely by the staff here on KMC who, as has been made obvious on many occasions, will close said threads at the sniff of any inappropriate behaviour...

For the record, (not mocking you syren or anything 😛) people at 13, the minimum age of KMC, should have been well exposed to it by now 👆

No, sorry, that is totally incorrect. There is absolutely no logical reason why a specific campaign setting should be a sub-forum, any more than a specific Movie genre has to be a sub-forum of the Movie Discussion area. That is simply not how this board works. Big enough Movie franchises get their own area. NOT their own sub-forum, and as this board started as a Star Wars board, Star Wars areas in particular get special attention.

And so likewise, the Star Wars RPs get their own area. The SW RP section pre-dates the other RP areas and is the centrepiece of the RP area as a whole, and it has a purpose and popularity that justifies its position. Furthermore, the General RP area was created specifically to handle non-Star Wars RPs and so it could not be less true that the SW area should be a subsidiary of it. This is nothing to do with your childish accusations of bias, it is the way it goes around here.
