I think it is what he wanted Snape to do because he cared more about Harry's life than his own. He knew that Snape would not kill him and the only other way is if the other D.Eaters did. He froze Harry so he wouldn't do anything stupid and end up dying. At the end I believe that he was pleading for him to kill him and not try and save him. The nasty look on Snapes face was disgust and hatred for what he had to do. If he didn't kill DD he would have died because of the Unbreakable Vow. Also, you will notice that Snape was giving Harry advice while they were dueling. He told him that anyone could block his spells until he learns to shut up and clear his mind. This is just a theory, and it could go either way but I think Snape is still working for the Order....Well not anymore. I think he will die in the next book either way.

Dumbledore wasn't pleading for Snape to kill him... Snape was going to do it anyway.
Snape didn't have to make the Unbreakable Vow. He did it for Narcissa.

I know!!! I was soo mad when i read it, but we all kniow that's J.K's style, she makes soemthnig seem like it isn't gonig ot happen, but it ends up happening. we all know j.K's style is to write what msot likely would happen in the real situation, and YEs it seems like we should be shocked, apalled and angry, but thsi is our beloved J.K we're talknig about. It was obviously not a fake, because I read the whole book already and it is not a fake page. although, you should have scanned the page that had Dumbledore saying "Severus..please..." and snape cruelly pointing his wand at him and yelling "Avada Kedavra!"

You know, you actualyl have a point there. Teh death eaters are too stupid to understand that snape saying anyone could block his spells was actualyl a tip, and when snape kept Harry back from them it was sort of to protect Harry, he even said it was their orders not to kill Harry. You coulde have as ponit. You are very clever!!
I do not believe Snape is entirely evil. Draco was Snape's favorite pupil, and the Malfoy's were his friends. Meanies as they were, they were friends. Snape knew that Voldemort would kill Draco if he failed and just as people protect Harry with their lives, so Snape agreed to protect Draco, to take the fall for him because he knew, as Draco's mother did, that Draco could not succeed.
I don't fault Snape for what he did. Draco put him in that spot. Snape would not have killed or harmed Dumbledore if he had not made the vow to protect Draco. And yes, Snape was protecting Harry in the only way he could bare to, by showing him that he wasn't strong enough to face what was coming and to fight harder and become stronger. Harry has to kill Voldemort, but he does not have what it takes yet to perform the Aveda Kedavra.
Snape stopped the other Death Eaters from hurting Harry and knocked out Professor Flitwick most likely to keep him safe from the battle with teh Death Eaters. I mean really, what was the point to knock him out when he ran right through the battle in which Flitwick would have been caught up anyway.
Snape did kill Dumbledore and he will have to endure that sin, but I do not believe he's evil or ever was. Voldemort picks the weak and the influental to do his work. Malfoy was not weak, but was influental. Snape was weak as JKR showed us so obviously in book 5. I think Snape overcame his weakness, but not his anger and bitterness. I do not think he has joined the Dark Lord as he was once convinced that he must do to overcome his enemies. I think, just like Dumbledore helped Harry, he also helped Snape.
