So any hero not on the list is in the free and clear. If you want to play a villain, revive a character, etc clear it with The Ones.

First Dr. Doom came to New York to kill certain Superheroes on his list and hired Juggernaut for added muscle—we never did learn why. In response to his attack on the city various heroes appeared to combat the threat, some were Doom’s targets, other were not. After much destruction and some confusion—Doom switched bodies with Gambit for a while, Doom nearly killed Scream (the yellow female symbiote) and Doom killed and destroyed much of New York. Scream and Venom are injured when Namor appears and goes on a rampage but recover. In the final battle Doom killed Cyclops. Rogue weakens Doom by touching him. Then Magneto arrives at the scene and attacks Doom for killing a fellow mutant. The Punisher blasted Doom with a rocket, Lasher (the green symbiote) threw a car on top of him. Doom shot a mystic bolt at Lasher, but Lasher bounced it back with some reflective piece of metal and it bounced back into what was left of Doom’s face, the Punisher blinded Doom with a smoke grenade and Lasher threw Doom into a burning building which collapsed on top of him. Punisher is wounded in the fight but alive.
But the assembled heroes don’t even have time to properly grieve for the dead before Carnage arrives on the scene capitalizing on the chaos wrought by Doom and is soon joined by the vengeance demon Zarathos. Lasher is decapitated somewhere in all this. Scream and Carnage fight, Gambit throws some charged cards at Carnage. Dr Strange produces a sonic attack which hurts both Carnage and Scream. Carnage is knocked out and Scream slinks away to heal. Zarathos attacks Gambit. Magneto protects Gambit. Zarathos attacks Magneto. Rogue throws a firetruck on top of Zarathos, but it does not harm him. Zarathos continues to attack them with mystical powers and Magneto continues to shield them. The Punisher returns to the battle, ramming a “borrowed” truck into Zarathos, bailing before impact. Magneto helps him out by making the truck go faster. Zarathos swats the truck away, grabs the Punisher by the throat and throws him into a burning building and shoots an energy blast at Magneto. Zarathos continues to battle Magneto and Rogue. Zarathos taunts the mutants and attacks them and Dr Strange. Rogue grabs Zarathos and absorbs his powers. Dr Strange imprisons Zarathos in a mystic cage. Zarathos breaks out and attacks Gambit and Rogue. Rogue grabs him again. Zarathos passes out. Zarathos revives and attacks again. Gambit blows him up again and again. Magneto shields Zarathos’ attacks. Zarathos tries to attack Magneto, Magneto raises into the air. Zarathos taunts him. When that doesn’t work, he goes and gets a ladder and tries to attack him. He still doesn’t hit him. Zarathos tries the “Aren’t you evil like me” approach. Magneto replies that he is not evil, and he will not allow him to kill his fellow mutants, that he hates humans, not mutants. Zarathos insists that if he joined them they would be sure to kill some humans. Magneto replies that he would not wish the tactics employed by Zarathos and Carnage even on humans. Then he threw a building on top of Zarathos. Zarathos attacks Gambit and Dr Strange in an attempt to rattle Magneto’s cage but it doesn’t phase him. Dr Strange summons some other demons to attack Zarathos and blasts him with mystical energy, and Rogue kicks him in the stomach. Zarathos attempts to make a building fall on top of them, but Magneto catches it and Rogue throws it at Zarathos. Zarathos retreats down an alley and hides in the trash and heals. Dr Strange finds him, attacks him, and exiles him into another dimension. Carnage awoke and was sighted on the rooftops by Strange. Strange sends demons to attack him and Cable arrives on the scene and the Punisher returns, armed to the teeth. Carnage still needed time to heal so beats a hasty retreat. After dinner (heh heh) Carnage returned and attacked Cable. Cable and the Punisher fight Carnage. Carnage severely wounds them both. The Punisher shoots a gas tank beside Carnage before he passes out. This caused a huge explosion. The Carnage symbiote abandons Kassidy and Kassidy falls (dead?) Then spikes come bursting out of the ground, one impaling Cable in the chest (heralding the return of Zarathos). The heroes rest and heal. Rogue and Gambit attempt to have a romantic moment. The others tell them to get a room. Rogue and Gambit fight. Gambit walks off. Then Zarathos returns. Dr Strange, Magneto, Rogue, Scream, and the Punisher attack Zarathos. Dr Strange shields the heroes from Zarathos’ blasts.
Then the Green Goblin attacks. Zarathos gets boared with the heroes and goes off to join the Goblin in his attack on what’s left of New York. Scream stalks them from the shadows. The Punisher shoots the Green Goblin, but the bullets bounce of GG’s armor. Dr Strange fights Zarathos. GG attacks Magneto, but his attacks are deflected by Magneto’s shield. GG accuses him of ‘not playing fair.’ Magneto smashes GG into something and he falls to the street. Zarathos and Magneto have a staredown. Toad arrives to assist Magneto. GG gets on his glider and flies away to blow up innocent bystanders. Scream ambushes him and webs him up. Zarathos grabs a bystander and tells her to let the Goblin go or he’ll kill an innocent bystander. Scream calls his bluff and keeps him talking. Dr Strange attacks Zarathos causing him to drop the guy. Scream still hauling GG around, also grabs the innocent bystander and escapes into the sewers. Scream frees the hostage a few blocks away, and advises him it may be best to leave town. Then she turns her attention to the Goblin, or as she now calls him—lunch. But Zarathos appears before she can feed on him and shoots her with mystic bolts, but she is still shielded by Strange’s magic. Goblin uses his sparkle blasts to burn himself out of the webbing. Scream and GG fight. Scream wounds him. GG sets off a smoke grenade and escapes. Zarathos attempts to follow the Goblin, but Strange finds him first and imprisons him with his magic. Now all that remains is the destruction and the heroes wondering what to do now…))
