I was too lazy to read the rest of the thread ( 😛 ), but I'd like to throw in my two sensible cents.
I'm a H/Hr shipper, and I'll counter those points.
1) Hermione loves both Harry and Ron.
2) Harry had just been in a relationship with her, and broke up with her to protect her! She's a friend, AND an 'ex'. They're both young teenagers, and young love happens VERY RARELY.
They say that best friends make the best lovers. Ron, and Hermione are his best friends, and he thinks only of them being with him on his journey with him, and Ginny was nowhere in his mind when he thought about that. They could be the last people he holds dear to him that he could ever see. So you might say, 'He loves Ginny and wants to protect her.' He loves Ron and Hermione too! HE ALWAYS ends up protecting the two, and Ginny wasn't paid much attention to UNTIL the 6th book, leaving her so called 'character development' out of the question.
3) Awkward and weird? For Ron, it was "Awkward and Weird" to have his best friend dating his baby sister. And if Ron were to date Hermione, it would be "awkward and weird" to Harry too, wouldn't you think? In the book it even said he was afraid that if the two got together, their friendship might be destroyed, leaving him torn.
4) Harry tried to talk to Hermione. Because of the sudden character change, she didn't give him the oppertunity, only because of her fury towards Ron when he tried to patch theings up between the two.
Notice in GOF. Who was Hermione with the majority of the book? HARRY. She could've easily gone off to Ron and sided with him, yet her loyalty guided her to Harry.
5) Hermione helped Ron onto the team because, she didn't like McLaggen, Ron is one of her best friends and she was practically doing Harry a favour, and Harry was already ON the team.
6) I personally love Ron's character, I really do. But it seems he DID need all the help he could get.
7) Harry only tells Ron things because he's a guy. Maybe there are some things he'd rather keep in between the two, keep it man to man, or maybe he's afraid of Hermione's reaction to what he might not tell her. Ron's more carefree and easy going, while Hermione is strict about her friends' wellfare.
As you can see, there's always a flipside to everything.
P.S. I respect your ship, and will not bash you at all, in fact, there are many sensible Herons out there who understand what we're going through with all the critisism, jokes, and bashing going on. I'd just like you to know that only SOME of our shipmates are as ignorant as some of YOURS are.
I'm still hanging on to what hope I have left for my ship, and won't give up, no matter what people say about my ship.
I congratulate you on your current 'win'.
You never know, though... THINGS CAN CHANGE.

In book 6 to quote Harry (thought to himself) when he saw Ron and Hermione engaging in a romantic conversation:
"Harry always knew that Ron and Hermione would be an item... but that made him ask where it left him..."
Harry already accepted it... thereby giving a silent rule: "Hermione is off-limits." Besides Gryffindors value loyalty right? I don't think Harry would betray his best mate by snogging Ron's secret love...

Yeah, it's kind'a ridiculous that they don't think so. I mean, almost everyone, even the cast and crew of Harry Potter think Ron and Hermione will get together, not Harry and Hermione. (Not to mention Daniel Radcliffe always brags about it. You'd think that Dan found the whole Ron and Hermione relationship was more interesting than his own character from the way he acts about it, for crying out loud! 🙄 ) It's so obvious! I'm surprised that there are actually still people who disagree with that!
