Form I: Shi Cho, Simplicity: training (no one???)
Form II: Makashi, Contenion: fencing (Dooku) Rarely used in New Rep. due to lack of lightsaber to lightsaber combat, uses flashy parrying and fencing attacks. bad at blaster defense
Form III: Sorensu, blaster deflection, defensive sparring (obi wan) focuses on waiting for enemy to tire or falter and only then makes an offensive move.
Form IV: Ataru, Agression, offensive, bad against niman qui gon jin yoda
helps yoda make up for lack of size, takes advantage of agility
Form V: Shien, Blaster reflection, ie anakin, vadar, luke, very quick and fast style, focuses more speed and quantity of attacks, rather than raw power
Form VI: Niman, diplomats form, no clear adv., balenced, yet ineffective against an expertly trained blaster or lightsaber. also good for double sided lightsabers or when handling two at once. (Maul, anakin vs dooku in EP II)(and the dude who got shot to death by jango fett in EP II in geonosis battle)
Form VII: Juyo/Vaapad, unorthidox, unpredictable, overwhelming, uses controlls and focuses anger for use of good(Windu)

Form 5 is the total opposite of what you described. form 5 use great wide swings and raw power to kill someone.
There was a thread about the fighting forms where a list was posted. And answering to the question of ths thread, yes, niman is inefective because it's not useful in a full scale battle like the one we see in geonosis. A diplomat IMO focus his training into diplomacy. That's why niman IMO has a crappy potential

Kit Fisto uses Form I. And how does Niman help against double-blades like Maul? Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon used Ataru, Form IV. Maul never fought a Niman user. Not to mention Maul used Juyo. And Where was Niman used in AOTC by Anakin? That's a completely different Niman, with two sabers, and it has another, different name.
IMPORTANT- As you took all of this knowledge from Wiki, a questionable site, I have used information from Wiki to counter it.
i see, my mistake, i and and yes i am using the info provided on wiki, i probably misinterpreted the info, and i was under the belief using niman on obi and qui gon, i see now that it is a diff form completely
I have failed you.
The punishment for failure... is death.

Ultimately it depends on the individual. Someone very good at Niman could defeat someone who uses a different form.
The 'problem' with Niman is that it basically mixes Forms 1, 3, 4 and 5. This means that because you're learning all these styles, the efficiency of each one is lessened.
A friend of mine described it this way; some martial arts like karate focus mostly on striking techniques, others, like judo, focus on grappling techniques. Others, blend both of these. Niman is like someone trying to learn both judo and karate and combine them. It won't be as effective as learning one single martial art which blends them more efficiently.
