What would Thomas Jefferson make of Dubya?

Started by grey fox5 pages

he'd cut him in half with his axe .....(jefferson is the one who cut down the cherry tree right)

nah that was George Washington ("I can not tell a lie Pa"😉

But that didn't actually happen.

No bush is very bad at speaking if it is not scripted.

The world is interested with Bush because they want to know how he was able to get re-elected. Thats what many Canadians ask. However atleast he is going downhill in the polls.

For all the Canadians that were wondering, he was re-elected because the majority of American voters thought he was fit to be president for another term.

Oh, sorry, I misread the "wasnt reffering to Bush's speaking abilities at all".

I suppose youre right. Bush is truly genious, and Jefferson's intelligence is nothing compared to the amazing mind of george dubya. 🙄

like jefferson would really know what to do in this era.

"he was re-elected because the majority of American voters thought he was fit to be president for another term."

That is what makes me wonder.

Why is that?

And even at times when scripted.

He was, more accurately, re-elected because only half of eligible voters in the U.S. actually bothered to vote. For a nation with a leader that spurts the word "democracy" out of every orifice every time he has the chance, the U.S. has a very low voter turnout. (Very) slightly over half supported him or voted for him because they opposed John Kerry. He received a quarter of the votes of eligible voters. Hardly a mandate.

No i wonder how did the american people re-elect Bush.

Apathy, in about half the eligible voters. Fear, in half of the remaining portion (i.e. a quarter) of eligible voters.

True i heard the so called group "safety mom's" got him elected. They care only about the safety of the family and i would agree and say Kerry was not president material. He was more of a politician. Need someone with class and charm.

You must have strange definitions of these two words...

Actually, I believe 'morality' would be a better term...

But this isn't the thread for that.

(False-sense of superior) morality contributed in some way to his vote. However he was the incumbent in a country that has ingrained in itself a permanent state of war. Wars favour the incumbent. Fear favours the incumbent. That was what largely won him the election despite shitty approval ratings.

Well atleast he is way down in the polls.

morallity??? 😂

dellusion would be most accurate.
people were not exposed to the truth that there were no WMD's in iraq.
people were convinced of ties between iraq and 9-11 of which there were none, which the administration knew well, but said the words "saddam hussein" and "september 11" and "terrorism" more times than can be easily counted at the RNC.

they one through fear and lies. bush's approval rating as of late is proof of that. but dont listen to me. just sit back and watch his popularity hit rock bottom 😬

I voted not in light of current events, fear, and/or lies. Remember, I'm one of those crazy Religious Right-ers.

Well, theres nothing like using religion to bring in votes.
