Warmachine

Questions, is warmachine dead ? Are him and tony starks, still friends? Is he in marvel any more? Why aint he on marvel.com character listing

The Marvel.com character listing is very sparse, only the major players or the characters whom Marvel would wish to be major players.

Jim Rhodes is still around, heading up a division of S.H.I.E.L.D. armored people or whatnot. Although that may not be in continuity as it was a Max title or something. Not sure. It was Chuck Austen.

Previous to Austen. Rhodes had, in some undocumented adventure, downloaded his Eidolon Warwear suit (the alien one) into a computer to delete all of Tony Stark's Iron Man files (Stark was believed dead at the time, due to Onslaught, I think, and his company had been bought up by Fujikawa. Rhodes didn't want to see all of Stark's stuff fall into someone elses hands, and he destroyed it, as he knew that's what Stark himself would do.)

Rhodes had lost his original armor when he went through a trip in time. Some guy Jacob Parnell found it, and used it to his petty crook ends. Rhodes was contacted by Stark and they confronted him, but I think Parnell got away. Rhodes has nothing left but a few prototype War Machine pieces. A helmet and guantlet. He and Stark are more or less on the outs, due to Rhodes' distrust of him.

Fastforward to the Crew series by Christopher Priest. Rhodes is about bankrupt, and later he finds out his sister has been killed in the Mog (short for Little Mogadishu, a section of some New York ghetto). Rhodes goes to the police, they can't help, he goes to the Mog (having experienced the real Mogadishu during his military service) and busts some skulls. He meets Josiah X, son of Isaiah Bradley the black Captain America. Josiah helps him hack into a few satelite feeds and get a picture or two of his sister as she dies. He knows the people that did it now, they work for the 66 Bridges Gang. With Josiah, White Tiger (Kasper Cole, introduced in Priest's Black Panther) and Junta (a spy with gravity powers also introduced in Priest's Black Panther), Rhodes takes down the Bridges Gang, he gets shot, but it's nothing serious and recooperates.

During the battle with the Bridges Gang, he puts on a guantlet, it surges with energy and he smashes a car speeding at him. Priest said, had the series continued, he would have given Rhodes a holographic armor thing, he puts on the guantlet and helmet, and when in dire need, can activate the holo armor and bust as. It never got that far and the series was cancelled, but it was badadass while it lasted, and it features Rhodes kicking ass without armor, which was pretty sweet. He's a great character, I kind of want Ellis to reintroduces him in his Iron Man series, if it ever gets underway.
