Errol rolls over, and begins coughing. The shadows began to disappear as the sun came up. Propped on his elbows, the boy began to cough violently. As he did, the darkness spilled from his mouth and writhed in the dirt before vanishing.

Reg climbs out of his shelter of trees and stretches after his long rest, and walks down a nearby path thinking of what might have happened while he was gone.
