The Beauty of Grammer...(a darthrevan89 disclaimer)

Ok people this is just a quick reminder that good grammer is key when you post. Here are few rules to remember when typing.

1. Capitalize the first word of a sentence(duh).

2. Add proper punctuation when needed.

3. If you can't type fast then don't rush it, people will hold you in higher esteem if you type neat easy to read posts (trust me).

4. This is not AIM.

5. Read your post after you type it and check for errors.

6. Use the spellcheck button (or another tactic is to type your post in Word then copy and paste it to the site).

7. Don't use slang such as uber and cuz.

What's "Grammer"?

As said, it's grammar with an "a". Also you almost always add an "ly" suffix to adjectives when making them adverbs, so number 3 should be:

If you can't type quickly then don't rush it, people will hold you in higher esteem if you type neat and easy to read posts.

Also, the word über actually means above, about, or extreme(ly) in German, so that's okay to use.

And another thing that always pisses me off. People will say something like "I don't type as quickly as him". Which is incorrect. One should say "I don't type as quickly as he", Because one is saying " I don't type as quickly as he does", not "I don't type as quickly as him does".

And never use myself when you shouldn't. People will try to sound smart and say " If you need help, contact Human Vader or myself". That is WRONG! If "Human Vader" wasn't in there one would say "Contact me". Nothing changes when you add another subject to the sentence. So the correct way to type that is " If you need help, contact Human Vader or me".

Ok, First off. Does it matter how one spells? It might to some people, but this is a forum where people are free to type however they want. Even if it includes slang. And I myself, so far at least have been able to read every post, with slang and mistakes, so it doesn't bother me in the least bit. Another thing. This has nothing to do with Star Wars, so the mod should be here soon to delete it. Or move it.

Its only some friendly advice to those people that spell like this.

Im to lazi too speel everythin corectly.

People writing long posts without paragraphing annoys me the most...

And people who CAPITALISE EVERY SINGLE WORD IN THEIR POST. HONESTLY, IT MAKES IT SEEM LIKE YOU HAVE SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO SAY... BUT YOU DON'T. I don't even read posts with long chains of capitalised letters or no paragraphing...

And while we're talking about spelling correctly, it's "colour" with a "u" (it's called 'english' for a reason 😛 ) and "sabre" not "saber".

To contribute, never end a sentence with a preposition. And Human Vader is completely correct in everything he has said. Such rules are ones often overlooked, but it's refreshing to see them discussed - they are simple observations one must make with regard to grammar and its applications to everyday life. For example, when one calls another person and the caller is asked who is calling, the person should respond "it is I" rather than "it is me" because "I" is the subject, and, under the circumstances, it is acceptable for the action verb to be "is" even though it is generally incompatible with the subject "I."
Anyways, cleaner grammar would be nice, but I suppose it isn't really integral to the spirit of the discussion here. In fact, some people make themselves (not always, I think, in a bad way) with their "unique" and, admittedly, original use of the English language to express certain points. I can't think of any offhand, but I'm sure that I remember some clever use of slang (other than acronyms) on this forum.

Peace be with everyone. Good wishes to all.

I end sentences with prepositions all the time because I am so caught up in what I'm saying and how to make it slide off my tongue like shit off a shingle and boom... I get a sentence ending with "is".

But really, there isn't any enforcement on internet communication etiquette when it comes to spelling and caps... But just so people know, especially new people... I don't pay much attention to people who type like this other than as targets for my newest pics...

cideus is totly r0xx00rs guyz u shud pey him moer respckt u dooshbags lol!!!@!@!@!@@!

If I see anyone typing like this right off the bat, I assume they are idiots. I mean, this isn't chat and this isn't AIM. There are no time restraints, so there is absolutely NO reason why you can't take your time and type properly.

Totalee agree wit dat, iz jus so friggn annoiying OMFG!!!!11!!1ONE1!

And while we're on the topic, wtf is the idea with resurrecting all this old threads? I mean, none of them are very good ones either, just the really crappy ones- total speculation ones like "What if Anakin was Asian and had full CO(tm) powers and has a big stick? Could he take out Exar Kun then?"
