Well, here is my part. hope you all like it!
Dear Harry,
Since your reading this, Congratulations! I knew I could count on you to find this. I also realize that this must mean that I'm dead. I'm sorry for your loss. I know this must be hard for you, so I will help you along as much as I can.
Now, about those Horcruxes. I'm sure you've been waiting for me to get to that, haven't you? As you’re well aware, Lord Voldermort has seven Horcruxes. We have taken care of two of them already. You destroyed Tom Riddle's diary, and I took car of Marvolo's ring. The locket, I assume, we have destroyed together. So there are three more for you to destroy before you can confront Voldermort. One is being Ravenclaw’s cup. Voldermort is likely to have hidden that somewhere that held significance in his past. But we will speak more of that later.
Oh, and I do hope that you are reading this in a safe place. If you are still sitting where I left this letter, it is very likely someone is sneaking up on you as we 'speak'.
yay! now it's my turn to post.
Harry looked up suddenly from the letter. He thought he heard the snap of a twig just as he read that last part of the letter. There was still more to read, but now Harry was to worked up to read it out here. In the open. He listened hard for any other sounds, such as light footsteps in the grass or the soft swish of a cloak. Harry decided that he would have to leave for somewhere safer right away. There was no time to lose.
But where should he go? He was still safe at the Dursley's place, seeing as he was not yet 17, but going back to that horrible house made his skin crawl.
"There must be somewhere else to go!" he thought, frustrated. Then it hit him. He didn't know why he hadn't thought of it before. It was so simple, but it would have to work. Harry decided to start on his way there right now. He wasn’t really aloud to apparate since he had not taken the test, but he would have to do it once more, just to take a quick stop at the Dursley’s. He didn’t want to stop there first, but he had to get all of his stuff. Then he would leave that house right away. Leave for somewhere much better then having to be back there for long.
So, after putting the letter safely in his pocket, he took out his wand and concentrated hard on his little room in the Dursley’s house.
He felt, once again, the odd feeling of being sucked through a tight tube. And when his room appeared in front of him, he gasped for breath. Harry looked out the window, and he saw that the sun was starting to rise. I have to get my stuff quickly, so that I can still leave while it is dark out. He thought to himself. So, Harry ran about the room, gathering all of his things, his books, parchment, quills, ink, caldron, Hedwig’s cage, invisibility cloak, and his trusty broomstick. He shoved all his stuff, save his Firebolt and the cloak, into his trunk. He took his wand back out, and not caring that he was still underage until the 31st, made his trunk light as a feather. Then he tied it to his broom, put on the cloak, and flew out the window.
He quickly flew as high as he could, just in case a Muggle was to see his trunk poking out from underneath the cloak. And, remembering when he was 15 years old flew in the direction of Sirius’s house.
Once when I get there I can read the rest of my letter. Harry thought excitedly.
Okay....going to add A LOT of filler
Even though Harry had flown here once before, it was still very hard to remember exactly where he was going. He kept looking at the compass that he tied onto the nose of his Firebolt, just to make sure he was going east.
Flying like this made him remember back to when he first took this flight. He was very angry after not getting any information all summer, and had sent Hedwig to get some answers. A few days after that, members of the Order of the Phoenix had come to get him. Moody, Lupin, and Tonks were some of the few that had come. Harry laughed as he remembered Moody being so serious about the whole plan. He could remember his words quiet clearly….
“We are going to be flying in close formation. Tonks will be right in front of you, keep close on her tail. Lupin’ll be covering you from below. I’m going to be behind you. The rest will be circling us. We don’t break ranks for anything, got me? If one of us is killed –” This is when Harry had cut in, but the others assured him that no one was going to die.
Harry laughed again at the conversation they had had. But he stopped quickly. He remembered back to the letter and how Dumbledore was gone. It put him back to just wanting to get there as soon as possible. He looked at the compass and had to turn a little to the right to continue to go east.
Harry kept close track of the time, and after about an hour of riding, he came upon the town that he had descended on from his broom two years earlier. Harry made sure that the cloak was wrapped closely around him, and was relived that it was not a windy day. He landed on a patch of unkempt grass in the middle of a small square. It was exactly how he had seen it that night…so long ago.
Since it was the early hours of a Saturday morning, Harry thought that no one would be up and about. Luckily, he was correct in this. There wasn’t a soul to be found at Grimmauld Place. Harry walked over to number 11 and looked to his left and saw, as he expected, number 13. He thought quickly of “Number 12, Grimmauld Place, London.” Then a dirty old door popped up and then the walls. He swiftly walked up the steps and opened the door.
yes...we werer talking...and i have just re-read the 6th book...and your are correct, it is Hufflepuff's cup, not Ravenclaw's.
sorry for the error!
oh, and it only might be something of Ravenclaw's...it's not for sure. it was only a guess of Dumbledore's...but he doesn't know it Voldermort got something of Ravenclaw's or just used something else.
Okay, so here's just a bit more filler....to pass the time till we make the rest of the letter
Harry heard a sound from somewhere behind him, and he quickly turned around. Harry could have sworn that he saw a dark, cloaked figure dash into an alley across the street.
Harry instantly thought of the person who had been watching him in the graveyard.
‘You are just being paranoid, Harry, that person wouldn’t have known that you went back to the Dursley’s. And then they wouldn’t have been able to follow you here. There was no way you would not have noticed him if he did. So, it was most likely just a kid sneaking back to his house early this morning. Nothing for you to concern yourself with.’ But Harry still had a bad feeling inside him when he walked into the house.
Harry closed the door quietly, not wanting to disturb the portrait of Sirius’s mum. Even though it had happened over a year ago, thinking about Sirius was still difficult for Harry. So, he pushed all those thoughts out of his mind and then took off his cloak. He took his things up to the room that he had stayed in once with Ron before returning to Hogwards for their 5th year. It was still as dirty as he remembered it, but it was definitely more lonely.
